Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Betty Encinales

Betty Encinales shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Betty, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Something outside of work that truly brings me joy is connecting with nature through hiking. I love spending time in the mountains any chance I get, I’m out there. I recently hiked in the Andes Cordillera, and it was an incredible experience. Nature has this effortless way of pulling you into the present moment and helping you disconnect from the noise and stress of everyday life. It’s my reset button, and I absolutely love it.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
About Me

I am an international talent acquisition professional with extensive experience living and working across the Americas, EMEA, the UK, and LATAM. Throughout my career, I have partnered with global organizations to identify, attract, and recruit top-tier talent across key business functions including Sales, Operations, Marketing, and Finance—primarily at the executive and senior-leadership level.

I have successfully delivered recruitment solutions for world-renowned brands such as Goldman Sachs, HSBC, the Financial Times, and many others. Currently, I serve as an internal corporate recruiter for the American media brand Newsweek, where I focus on building high-performing teams and delivering a thoughtful, human-centered hiring experience.

Outside of my corporate work, I am a trustee, mentor, and triathlete, deeply passionate about community impact, personal growth, and supporting others in achieving their goals. I enjoy socializing with friends, spending meaningful time with loved ones, and exploring the world through travel.

My professional journey reflects my commitment to excellence, cultural adaptability, and building genuine relationships—qualities that define both my personal brand and my approach to talent acquisition.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
When I was 15, our school yearbook was about to be cancelled because no one wanted to take ownership of finding a publisher or managing the work. I’d always dreamed of having that yearbook as a memory, so I stepped up. I organized the photoshoots, coordinated the content, found a publisher, and even brought in advertisers. It ended up becoming one of the best yearbooks the school had produced. That experience showed me—very early on—that hard work pays off and that I had real leadership in me. It was the first moment I truly felt powerful and capable.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Being humble is one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned. When you struggle, you quickly realize how important it is to stay grounded—no matter how much success you achieve or how many goals you reach. Kindness and humility cost nothing, and my own ups and downs have taught me that titles and accomplishments come and go, but staying grounded is what truly lasts.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Integrity and trustworthiness are at the core of who I am. I don’t believe in shortcuts, pretending, or saying things I don’t mean. What I say matters, and I make it count. For me, these values aren’t just about building a strong reputation—they’re about how people remember you. No noise, no nonsense, no excuses. Just consistency, honesty, and follow-through. That’s how I build relationships that last.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
I would regret not trying everything I’ve ever wished for. I’ve lived in multiple countries, chased big dreams, and embraced life fully and I’m grateful for the courage my character gives me to go after what I truly want. My motto is simple: try. Listen to what your heart secretly tells you and take the chance. Even if things don’t work out, at least you dared—and that’s where life truly begins
