We’re looking forward to introducing you to Blanc. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Blanc, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
As of now, it’s waking up and immediately giving thanks to the most high for doing so. Giving thanks to my ancestors for laying the foundation for me to be here, and asking for gratitude, or to remain grateful and humble. Followed up by a 45 minute power yoga flow before I really start my day. I try to stay off the phone until yoga is completed and I’ve showered. It can be a huge distraction, and easily become an addicting one.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I go Blanco or Blanc, and currently I’m the owner and creator of BLANCOBeads, LLC, as well as ShesBleu, LLC.
BLANCOBeads, is a retail Waistbead business that not only provides authentic waistbeads from west Africa, but customized them to the buyers preference as well. Incorporating certain colors, crystals, and charms to add a level of spiritually and personal comfort to each piece created.
ShesBleu, is a health and wellness business primarily based in Pole Dancing, but also incorporates yoga, with a focus of helping others feel fully in their bodies. To appreciate themselves through physical body movement, because movement is a privilege we often take for granted. More-so because we spend most of our time just moving and doing at a fast pace, versus slowing down and living in the senses.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
My mother passing. It gave me the ability to really see people. Not through the lense of who I want them, or believe them to have to be, but simply as human. It gave me the opportunity to accept that we are all divinely created, heavily flawed souls in these vehicles we call bodies. We’re all doing the best we can with the capacity we have to do it. Be kind, and empathetic, but don’t allow yourself to be used and/or mistreated in the process. Learn discernment, it can save you from a world of foolishness. Stay true to who you are, in the midst of a time of social control. Believe that any and all things are possible because the Universe/God said so.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, and there are still times when I want to give up. Living in a capitalistic society will constantly give you moments of wanting to quit. Because most of us see success as having some kind of monetary value. The ability to acquire things, all the things we want and think we need to fill full. But when the purpose is deeper, you keep pushing anyway. When you recognize the purpose of the work you’re doing, and what it’s giving back to you, it’s that much harder to give up on it. Because what my work has given back to me is priceless. Allowing someone the space to feel seen, and be vulnerable is so much more fulfilling.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Health & Wellness! Authenticity in people. Music, in all of its form. Dance, because it’s freeing for the body. My spirituality, and cultural history.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Overthinking.
