Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Boo Johnson of NW PORTLAND

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Boo Johnson . Check out our conversation below.

Boo, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day begin with two way prayer and free writing, which grounds me and sparks creativity. Then I have lemon water, and French press. Next my little Australian cattle dog named Clyde and I get out for some sunshine and steps.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Boo Johnson, and I’m a visual artist. What sets me apart is my love of collaboration—working with clients to choose palettes and bring their visions to life feels like an honor. While I enjoy creating independently, the collaborative process inspires me deeply. Currently, I’m working on a large-scale corporate project, designing pieces for expansive walls up to 60 feet, exploring how color, line, and movement can connect works and shape the viewer’s experience.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful was as a child, when my imagination gave me endless creativity—turning sticks, stories, and play into whole worlds of my own.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering has been my greatest teacher, showing me lessons and growth that success never could—both in the studio and in life.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that what matters most to me are seeking spiritual truth, my family, beauty and color, and the value of friendship and community.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace during Shavasana after yoga, lying in my backyard under the trees and sky, getting lost in my studio work, relaxing with my husband in the evening, and finally, when my head hits the pillow at night
