We’re looking forward to introducing you to Brie Burgett. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Brie, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I’m working towards the summit of Vinson Massif in Antarctica, which will be my fifth of the Seven Summits. For me, climbing mountains is not just about standing on top of a peak, they represent pursuing something bigger than myself, the commitment to keep pushing when things get uncomfortable, and the belief that growth only happens outside of your comfort zone.
If I stopped chasing goals like this, I think that would end a significant part of me. The drive, the discipline, and the resilience I’ve built through challenges, whether in the Marine Corps or on expeditions, come from continually testing my limits. Stopping wouldn’t just mean missing a summit; it would mean losing that part of me that’s always seeking the next horizon, the next chance to become stronger, and the next way to inspire others to keep climbing their own “mountains.”
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Brie Burgett, and I split my time between working in tech, serving as a Marine Corps Reservist and building my brand, The Brie Adventure. My journey has been shaped by two passions, service and exploration. The Marine Corps taught me resilience, discipline, and the importance of leading from the front, while my love of travel and adventure has given me a global perspective and a platform to share stories that inspire others to seek challenge and connection.
Through The Brie Adventure, I create content around adventure travel, fitness, and exploration, sharing both the highs and the real struggles of pursuing big goals. What makes my journey unique is that I’m currently working toward climbing the Seven Summits, with Vinson Massif in Antarctica up next. It’s a project that focuses on how we all have our own mountains to climb, whether that’s on a mountain, in a career, or in our personal lives.
At its core, my story is about how only you are the person who can decide what you’re capable of.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
One of the most defining moments for me was commissioning as a Marine Corps officer. Standing there, raising my right hand, and swearing an oath to serve was a mindset shift and a significant turning point in my life.
The Marine Corps taught me that leadership is about responsibility, not rank. It showed me how discipline and perseverance can change the direction of your life.
It’s those skills that continues to enable me today!
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell her to trust her strength and stop doubting if she is capable. The path won’t always be easy, but every challenge will shape her into someone stronger than she can imagine right now.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
I try hard to be the same person online that I am in real life, but I’ll be honest that Instagram naturally becomes a highlight reel. It’s easy to share the summits, the beautiful travels, and the wins, and much harder to capture the self-doubt, the setbacks, or the long, unglamorous work that happens behind the scenes.
That said, I do my best to show the full picture whenever I can, because I believe people connect more with honesty than perfection.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people will say I inspired them to stop putting limits on themselves—to chase the goals that felt too big or too out of reach. I want to be remembered as someone who lived fully, led with courage, and showed that ordinary people can do extraordinary things when they refuse to quit.
If my story pushes even one person to take that first step toward their own “summit,” then I’ll be quite happy with it!
