We’re looking forward to introducing you to Cari Miles. Check out our conversation below.
Cari, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
One of the biggest misconceptions about my business is that using a travel advisor costs more or adds unnecessary steps to the process. In reality, working with a professional often saves people both time and money. Many travelers don’t realize that advisors have access to exclusive rates, perks, and upgrades they wouldn’t be able to secure on their own. Another common misunderstanding is that we just “book trips,” when in fact a huge part of what we do is offer guidance, advocate for our clients if something goes wrong, and handle all the behind-the-scenes details so the experience is seamless from start to finish.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Cari Miles, and I’m the owner of Miles In Style Travel. I specialize in helping clients plan unforgettable vacations, destination weddings, and group getaways all over the world. At Miles In Style Travel, we have a wonderful team that truly shares a passion for travel. We’ve built a well-rounded group of experts, so our clients are always working with someone who understands their unique interests and travel goals. Whether it’s a luxury cruise, a magical Disney vacation, a romantic escape, or a milestone celebration, we love bringing each vision to life. What makes our business special is the combination of personalized service and thoughtful guidance. We handle all the details behind the scenes so you can focus on enjoying the experience. My goal is always to make travel feel effortless, inspiring, and even more memorable than you imagined.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before I owned my travel business, I spent years working in sales for both large corporations and small companies. While there were parts of those jobs I appreciated, like learning how to connect with people and navigate different industries, the truth is, it was exhausting. The corporate environment never felt like the right fit for me. I often felt like I was just going through the motions, showing up each day to do work that didn’t inspire me, all to meet someone else’s goals.
I honestly never thought I would be successful as a business owner. The idea of stepping away from a steady paycheck and the structure I was used to felt intimidating. I never imagined I would have the courage to build something of my own. But here I am, running a company that lets me combine my love of travel with my desire to help people create lasting memories.
They say you never work a day in your life if you love what you do. While this business certainly has its challenges and long days, I truly feel that most of the time. I get to wake up excited about what I am creating and genuinely enjoy the work, even when it is demanding. Looking back, I am so grateful I took the leap because it has been more rewarding than I ever could have imagined. This year, I am about to celebrate 11 years of living this dream.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, it would be this: You are stronger than you think, and you don’t have to have it all figured out to build a beautiful life. Every struggle you’re facing now is shaping you into someone who will be brave enough to follow her own path. Keep believing in yourself, even when it feels like no one else does. One day, you’ll look back and be so proud that you never gave up.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I think my closest friends would say that my business is very important to me and that during the work week I am completely dedicated to working hard and taking care of my clients. They also know how passionate I am about travel and that I am often off exploring somewhere new. But when I am home, they see how much I value spending time with the people I care about. On the weekends, I love simply being with my friends and family. We do not have to be doing anything in particular. Most weekends you will find me in the kitchen because I truly enjoy cooking and entertaining at my house. Having that balance between working hard, seeing the world, and relaxing with the people I love is what matters most to me.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope the story people tell about me is that I was passionate about helping people create unforgettable experiences and making the complex simple. I want to be remembered as someone who went above and beyond to make dreams come true and who approached every challenge with dedication and heart. More than just a business owner, I want to be seen as a trusted guide and friend, someone who genuinely cared about the people I worked with and always worked hard to bring joy into their lives.
