Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Cassie Swindon of Raleigh

Cassie Swindon shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Cassie, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Hiking outside or playing board games with my kids

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a romantasy author with multiple titles published. I enjoy creating magical worlds that are outside our realm of reality and to tell someone else’s story within those pages. I’m currently drafting my thirteenth novel which is about a soul sucking demon and her hunter. They have to work together despite only one of them knowing their goals are conflicting.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
Standing atop a mountain in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado with my best friend as a kid when we ditched the parents on a hike.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
The value of the person I struggled for and the importance of my role in that relationship.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
Our one life is ultimately our own, so I’ll live it for me, myself, instead of living it to accommodate others.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What light inside you have you been dimming?
The passion and will to travel
