Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Chef Benjamin Leggitte of Dallas,TX

We recently had the chance to connect with Chef Benjamin Leggitte and have shared our conversation below.

Chef Benjamin, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
Im currently Chasing my dream goal of opening up my own culinary arts institute.

I want to open up the first black owned culinary arts institute in the world.

If I stop chasing my goal of doing that then personally Im letting down all the young chefs that are looking up to me and I can’t let that happen thats why Im working hard to make the change.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Im a celebrity Private chef / now food truck owner operator in Dallas,TX.

I recently in October 2025 just launched my new mobile food truck experience in Dallas.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
I would definitely say my parents of course especially as a young teenager but alot of my work ethic experience came from working in different states and different kitchens I have learned so much about my self and my true passion of culinary arts from traveling the country and working with some of the best chefs in the world.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my young self it would definitely be “Thank you for never giving up when people said you would be a big time chef”

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
Definitely my culinary role model Gordon Ramsay He represents everything I inspire to be in the culinary world I learn alot from Him.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely I love what I get to do for a living everyday with culinary Its my passion Its my life I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Even if I never got praised for my skills I would be ok with that because this is what I love to do.
