We’re looking forward to introducing you to Christy Clark. Check out our conversation below.
Christy, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
Heck yeah! I’d definitely hire myself. (Haha) why? Because I put my all into my work. I’m confident, reliable, LOYAL, a hard worker, and I truly LOVE what I do. The passion within me translates to how I treat my couples before, during & after photoshoots/weddings, the work I put into getting all my couples a unique experience, and quality photos! If I had to do it for free, I would but we all have bills to pay (haha).
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey y’all! I’m Christy—the face behind Christy Clark Photography—and together with my husband, we’re the duo telling love stories just like yours.
We’re all about documenting weddings and engagements in a way that actually feels like you. No stiff poses, no fake moments—just the real stuff. We’re not here to squeeze your day into our style; we step into your world and capture it the way it deserves to be remembered.
Every couple is different, every story is its own, and that’s exactly how we treat it. It might sound a little cliché, but it’s true—we’re just here to make sure you feel seen, celebrated, and totally yourself in every single frame.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
Who’s taught me the most about work?
Hands down, my dad. He started at the very bottom of the company ladder and, over the years, climbed his way up to a seriously high-level position. Watching him hustle taught me that hard work does pay off—and that giving up just isn’t an option.
That said, I’ve taught myself a lot too. From clocking into a 9-5 at 18 to running my own business now, it’s been a wild transformation. My mindset, work ethic, and approach to business have completely evolved. I’m definitely a Type A kind of girl—every T’s gotta be crossed, every I dotted. 🫣
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could tell my younger self one thing, it’d be this:
Stop stressing over the small stuff. You’re going to be just fine—better than fine, actually. You’re going to build something beautiful. You’ll make people feel seen and celebrated on one of the biggest days of their lives. You’ll grow into someone strong, creative, and kind. So breathe… you’ve got this.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies in this industry?
That the older you get, the more irrelevant you become. Total BS.
I truly believe age has nothing to do with your ability to document love. Whether you’re young, middle-aged, or have a few more laugh lines—what matters is your heart, your perspective, and your willingness to evolve. Stay open, stay inspired, keep learning, and you’ll always have a place here.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
Am I doing what I was born to do—or what I was told to do?
No question—this is what I was born to do.
I was made for this. For loyalty. For storytelling—not with words, but through art. Through photos that freeze time and speak louder than anything I could say out loud. This isn’t just a job to me—it’s part of who I am.
You’ll see it in my work, you’ll hear it when we talk. I could sit for hours explaining why I do this and never get tired of it. Because the truth is… I was born for this. And I’ll keep doing it with my whole heart for as long as I possibly can.
