Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Damon Duster of San Pedro, California

Damon Duster shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Damon Duster, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Getting kids ready for school

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Nomad Eel Records is literally the mirror image of myself! I have eclectic taste in music from all genres. I also love art in all it’s forms. I just love the freedom of it all! Brother Watt mentioned to me a while back that he loves how I let my freak flag fly! So we are always working on something new! If we like it we release it. We are never going with the main stream or what’s popular now! We release what we love!

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
Hands down, my Mom! She has always had her own businesses! From a carpet cleaning business in Vegas in the late 70’s early 80’s, a Child Care in the early to mid 90’s, and finally her own Beautician shop from mid 90’s to the 2000’s.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
When you are down and out and at your lowest is when true change occurs and when people make lifechanging decisions…good or bad! For me, it’s always been good!

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Honesty

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
I am tap dancing every day I wake up! Everyday I’m above ground is a great day!
