Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Daniel Ginsberg of Utrain

Daniel Ginsberg shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Daniel, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Definitely. Hitting a quarter million dollars in total bookings was a huge milestone for us at Utrain. It really showed the impact we’re having — helping trainers turn their passion into real income, all through one simple app. Every time we see a trainer post, ‘Book with me now on the Utrain App,’ it’s a reminder that we’re building something that’s changing the game for basketball trainers, making it easier to get booked, get paid, and grow their business.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Daniel Ginsberg, founder of Utrain — the #1 booking platform built specifically for basketball trainers. My background is in basketball, both as a player and coach, and I created Utrain after seeing how many trainers struggled with scheduling, payments, and growing their business. We’ve made it simple: trainers can set up their profile, get booked, and get paid — all from their phone. We’ve already helped trainers process over a quarter million dollars in bookings, and we’re just getting started. Our mission is to make it easier for trainers to focus on what they love — basketball training — while Utrain handles the rest.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
I’ve been really fortunate to have incredible people guide me throughout the Utrain journey. Our advisors — Joseph Toe, Cade Lemcke, and Robert Pons — have taught me so much about execution, sales, and long-term strategy. On top of that, going through startup accelerators like 434, Lighthouse Labs, and the CSI Tech Incubator gave me access to amazing mentors and directors who really shaped how I approach building a business. Their guidance pushed me to think bigger, move faster, and stay focused on solving real problems for our users. All of that support has been a huge reason why Utrain has been able to grow the way it has.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell my younger self, “Keep going — it’s going to be worth it.” In the early days of Utrain, there were so many moments of doubt, long nights, and tough decisions. But every small win added up. I’d remind myself that the struggles are part of the process, and the impact you’re going to make on trainers’ lives and the basketball training industry will be bigger than you can imagine.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m fully committed to building Utrain into the go-to platform for the entire basketball community — trainers, parents, and athletes — no matter how long it takes. I believe basketball trainers should have the same high-quality tools to run and grow their businesses, and parents and athletes should have an easier way to connect with trusted coaches. From day one, our mission has been to simplify and elevate the experience for everyone in the basketball industry, and I’m committed to making Utrain the standard platform that powers the future of basketball training.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When have you had to bet the company?
One of the biggest moments we had to bet on Utrain’s future was choosing to invest heavily in AI innovation that would push the basketball industry forward. We committed to building real solutions that make life easier for trainers, parents, and athletes — not just by improving booking and payments, but by leading with technology and the use of natural language (voice chat or text). A perfect example of that is our recent ChatGPT integration — Find a Basketball Trainer Near Me – Utrain App — where anyone can use ChatGPT AI to instantly find and book a basketball trainer through Utrain. Betting on innovation like this has been game-changing for us, and we’re just getting started.
