Deanna Astol shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Deanna, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
What I’m most proud of, what nobody sees, is the legacy I’m building for my children. Every lesson, every value, every piece of wisdom I share with them is an investment in the ripple effect they’ll carry into the world. They’re learning not just skills or knowledge but how to honor their energy, their intuition, and their impact. Someday, when they step into their own lives, the unseen work I’ve put into raising and guiding them will continue to create waves, touching people and communities far beyond what anyone can see today.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Deanna Astol, an energy practitioner and certified peer counselor dedicated to helping people manage their emotions, energy, and well-being. My work blends Reiki, polarity therapy, and holistic practices to create transformative experiences that leave people feeling balanced, empowered, and seen. What makes my approach unique is that it’s deeply practical while still honoring the spiritual and energetic dimensions of life, bridging the gap between everyday challenges and higher-level healing. Beyond one-on-one sessions I’m building conscious community through teaching, group experiences, and mentorship, and helping others, including my children, carry this work forward into the world.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed I had to earn love and approval by being ‘perfect’ or by hiding parts of myself that didn’t fit in. I thought my value depended on how well I could meet expectations and that being sensitive or intuitive was a weakness. Today I no longer believe that. I’ve learned that my worth is inherent, that my sensitivity is a gift, and that embracing all parts of myself, light and shadow, is what allows me to heal, grow, and help others do the same.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
The defining wounds of my life have been rooted in fear, self-doubt, and the belief that I wasn’t enough and that my feelings didn’t matter. Growing up with anxiety and navigating experiences where I had to suppress parts of myself left deep imprints. Healing came when I started to fully take responsibility for my energy, my emotions, and my boundaries. Through energy work and meditation, and intentional self-reflection, I learned to honor my own needs, release what no longer serves me, and step into a life where I can both receive and give freely. The wounds haven’t disappeared completely, but they’ve transformed into deep wells of wisdom, empathy, and resilience that guide my work and my life.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m committed to building a legacy of spiritual and emotional empowerment for my clients, for my children and the communities I touch. This means teaching people how to understand and manage their energy, heal themselves from within, and step into their fullest potential. I’m in it for the long game: nurturing transformation, passing wisdom forward, and creating a ripple effect that will continue far beyond my own lifetime. No matter how long it takes, this work is about planting seeds that grow into lasting change.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people remember me as someone who gave hope and opened minds, showing that there are many ways to live, to heal, and to be. I want the story to be about the love, guidance, and wisdom I shared, both through my healing work and through my children. Most of all, I hope they tell a story of transformation: that I inspired people to embrace themselves in a new way, see new perspectives, and walk through life with courage, and compassion.
