Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Donna Sherrie

Donna Sherrie shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Donna Sherrie, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Something outside of work that is bring me joy lately is discovering that there is more to life than just focusing on myself and my needs. These days I’m being more intentional about reaching out to those I love and being open to making new friends.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m the owner of Donna Sherrie LLC, an online, faith-based, book writing coaching company that empowers aspiring authors to plan, write, and publish their first book with ease, joy, and simplicity. Our mission is to help writers transform their stories into impactful books that inspire and serve others.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I used to feel inferior. I thought that everyone around me was better and I didn’t fit in anywhere. But over the years, I discovered that my own uniqueness, talents, gifts, and who I am is what makes me brilliant and valuable. I don’t need people’s validation to be who I am and that is so freeing.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I stopped hiding my pain and using it as power when I wrote my memoir called Untarnished in 2021. I used my story to make an impact and inspire others who may have gone down a similar path as me with shared experiences. Although 4 years has passed since I first wrote the book, it is still inspiring and changing lives. I get to give talks about my life experiences and moments in the book to help others heal and be empowered.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Most definitely! Who I am in public is the same person I am in private. There’s no on and off switch in which I operate from. I believe in being authentic no matter where I am. Now am I probably a little bit more silly and goofy in private – for sure, lol. But as it relates to my character, my beliefs, my values…they remain the same.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
Being loving and showing compassion and dignity to all those I meet and interact with. I will not regret helping people, being generous, giving a listening ear, or lending a hand. Those are the most precious moments that no one knows about and I don’t have blast it on social media or tell others. I will never regret helping humanity in various capacities.
