We recently had the chance to connect with Eileen Seitz and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Eileen, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Riding my bicycle for a couple of miles down the backstreets of my village. There are so many tropical trees and blooming flowers that bring me joy, with the different sizes, shapes and colors of the leaves, blooming flowers, and a variety of fragrances. It is quiet except when an occasional car drives through but usually it is me the small birds in the trees singing praises and wild peacocks with their families trailing behind as I ride down the streets through the sunlight and shadows.
Sometimes I bring a book and go to the park where I catch quiet time and ocean breezes while I read my book.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
As a full time, artist, creator, designer, born and raised in the concrete jungle NYC, I left to find the green jungle of Mother Earth. In the cities one is amid many cultures, with different beliefs and understandings and hopefully a person learns and grows to allow everyone to be an individual. In the green jungle Mother Earth, one learns it is similar. Mother Earth allows everywhere. Animals, trees, and plants make room for one another, accepting one another for a time, yielding when needed, This I have learned and am guided through Spirit to bring to life in my watercolors and oil paintings on canvas.
Through this understanding, I create. Guided by Spirit, I bring this harmony to life in my watercolors and oil paintings. I seek to channel the beauty and freedom of land, sea, and sky using color, line, and form. My work is not just a reflection of nature, but a message—for those in urban spaces to reconnect with the rhythm of the earth, and for every soul to remember the harmony, individuality, and divine beauty that already lives within them.
Each painting is a prayer, a breath, a bridge between worlds—between city and jungle, between human and spirit.
I am finishing up a large 25” x 35” watercolor I was commissioned to paint for the University of Miami Business School. A few more areas of the landscape with the schools unique architecture, lagoon and many birds are coming to life.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mother always saw me clearly. As a child, I was full of light—happy, smiling, and naturally drawn to creating. When I was just eight years old, my fourth-grade teacher noticed something in a simple painting I made—a house, some trees, and the sun. But it was not just the subject; it was the composition, the way I intuitively placed each element, that made her pause and say, “Ah.”
That small moment, shared between my teacher and my mother, stayed with me. It was the first time someone outside of myself recognized the way I see the world. It was not just a picture—it was the beginning of a lifelong relationship with space, form, and storytelling through visual art.
From the moment my fourth-grade teacher recognized something special in my composition, my mother became my greatest supporter. Her interest turned into encouragement, and her encouragement became action. She made sure I always had what I needed—paints, paper, brushes—anything to keep my creative spark alive and growing.
When I was 13, she enrolled me in a remarkable art school in New York City, run by an older European couple. Their school was in a tall building, inside their apartment, which had been transformed into a living, breathing space for art. Each room held a different world: one for painting, one for drawing, others for learning shadows, perspective, and technique. It was magical.
That experience left a deep imprint on me. I will always carry it with me—and I will always be grateful to my mother for recognizing, nurturing, and investing in my artistic voice from the very beginning.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
No, I have never given up. I live in a different reality where I see that everything happens for GODS timing. I have had rejections many times in various ways. People canceling appointments, people being late for appointments they made with me. For me I live each day one at a time. When I do plan things with others, I see the event through, but otherwise I do not plan my days. I get my guidance for what I am to do for the next day in the evening before or the early morning hours of the day coming. For me its unique every day. If there is a change, I just fill my time with something else creative.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, what I express is me in public, with my family, and with my friends. I carry God’s light with me and speak honestly and openly. Many clients call me and are amazed that I pick up the phone.. Many of my friends call me to discuss important things in their lives to get my perspective, knowledge, experience, and wisdom. It goes both ways.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I have always done what I was born to do. I have left people behind and places that I have lived. The only times I follow instructions rather than commands are for clients and their art projects. The Holy Spirit that speaks to me communicates clearly. It is my best friend, given to me by God. It provides me with opportunities, projects, shelter, and material goods that help me fulfill my purpose. Travel trips and places to live come from God’s grace. I have known people who have told me what to do or what I should do, and I see that it reflects their projections, their way of acting and behaving. But you see, I only follow my heart and stand up for myself.
