Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Elyse Schiller of Woodland Hills, CA

Elyse Schiller shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Elyse, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I’ve had many recent moments lately that brought both laughter and a deep sense of pride—so proud of my three daughters and their independent, entrepreneurial spirits.

I’ve experienced some major recent moments of pride watching one of my daughters completely transform her life. For a long time, she struggled and found things pretty tough. But over the past couple of years, through sheer determination and self-discipline, she’s discovered a real passion for health, wellness, and bodybuilding.

We often laugh now about how she once couldn’t stand the idea of working out or eating healthy, now those are the cornerstones of her life. It’s incredible to watch all three become such strong, focused young women.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?

Co-Founder / Head of Creative Sync Licensing & Business Development GSM FIERA, LLC, Music Producer, Artist Mentor, Mom, PickleBaller.

Intro to me and my brand: I am a music branding, Film / TV, sync‑licensing executive for 13+ years and previously was on the creative side as an artist / composer / producer creating music for records, films, TV networks, trailers/advertising.

I’m currently co-owner of GSM FIERA a women owned, diverse artist sync roster and custom music production company based in Woodland Hills, CA. My business partner is Justine Ok, an amazing songwriter, producer, artist, former Sony/ATV writer and brilliant business mind- she heads up our custom music content production teams both here in the US and in Korea. We create premium tailor made songs/ artist albums for large publishers and bespoke content for networks and films. We represent, pitch, and place our international collection of unique label sounding artists in all media.

Some of our stand out artist placements in brand campaigns have been : Google Android “Circle To Search” featuring Dee Mad x REMY song “Make You Look” and one of our composer’s tracks customized for a Qualcomm Snapdragon F1 campaign with race car driver Doriane Pin. Other featured placements include: artist Chioma formally Ai Bendr in Euphoria S2, vintage soul artist James Holvay in Your Honor, placements in Suits LA, Bel-Air, The Game, All American, Obliterated, 56 Dates, The L Word Gen Q, East New York, Mayans, Legacies, Virgin River, Man From Toronto and many more.

Justine and I fired up GSM FIERA in January 2022 and have been rocking the custom and sync worlds through all the crazy ups and downs in the industry and the world and right now we’re super excited about our new sync label Au Couture. We are extremely passionate about the talent we represent and very proactive on behalf of our writers, composers and producers.

What makes us unique? Our client’s seem to think a major thing that makes us stand out is that Justine and I are both experienced creatives and businesswomen. It’s second nature speaking the language of music as well as servicing and interpreting our client’s visions on the business side. The other core part of our brand is that we pride ourselves on being a mecca for the hottest emerging artists and influencers and being a one stop shop or very easy clearance for our music supervisor / production and music executive clients.

On the custom side we are currently working on Pop and K-Pop artist albums and collaborating with some very select artists for our Au Couture sync imprint. We are fully E&O insured and excited about working with more brands, designing new partnerships, and discovering new strategies and revenue streams for our artists.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My oldest brother Randy saw that I had a deep passion for music before I knew.

Randy was a well known San Francisco music engineer and audio designer of sound and lighting systems in the clubs and concert venues. When I was very young, I was always singing and dancing around the house. Randy built a stage and put together mini shows in our backyard. He was so excited that I could sing and he directed me to perform songs from broadway shows and films, he put together show programs and invited all the neighbors. Randy had a huge record collection and introduced me to such a wide array of artists and composers from The Doors, Janis Joplin, Cream to Henry Mancini, Esquivel, Shirley Bassey, Sly and The Family Stone, tons of music. He was the sound guy for many of my bands in San Francisco before I got a record deal with Columbia and moved to Los Angeles.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yesssss! After playing in clubs for two years and getting a synth pop record deal in Los Angeles with Columbia with songs on the Disco Billboard charts, there was a bit of time after having the deal where I was really wondering if music was still the way to go. My father saw a more concrete business side in me and wanted me to pursue law or forensic accounting. At the time I decided to go back to school to take some law and accounting classes. I met a music collaborator / engineer Jim Watson and we started creating alt hip hop and downtempo music together. Our music was heard at E! Entertainment Television and all of a sudden we were writing most of the main titles and promo identity music there and that turned into Jim and I having a studio facility in West LA and working with E! for about 10 years along with creating sonic branding for multiple networks and brands. So my music career turned around just as I was letting it go.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Family, My Kids, Friends, Music, Helping Artists, Helping Clients, Everything Sync, Integrity, Love, Communication, Animals (especially dogs), Health, Being Fit, Fashion / Style, Great Food, Achieving Goals, Being Curious, Being Flexible, Fairness, Vulnerability, Strength, Inclusion, Commitment.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
I have been and continue to be excited about everything that revolves around music.

I remember going to record stores as a teenager and buying the latest releases of artists I loved or wanted to know more about, coming home ripping open the packaging and diving in… dancing and learning all the words to each song, making mixtapes for parties. I felt the same euphoric feeling when writing songs and being in the studio, with my fellow musicians, producing, shaping electronics, creating more impact and emotion through our production choices. Love working for media clients ascertaining what their vision is and then the rush when you learn that the client feels you nailed it.

In these last almost four years working with Justine and our super talented writers and producers I feel excitement almost every day meeting new creatives, making new partnerships , signing new music that is killer and unique and placing awesome songs in great stories with talented music supervisors and with iconic brands. I’m super excited about GSM FIERA and our new artist sync catalogue, Au Couture and all the new projects and collabs about to break through in 2026!
