Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Jeanette Salzburg of Wheat Ridge, Co

We recently had the chance to connect with Jeanette Salzburg and have shared our conversation below.

Jeanette, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Any creative venture, but when I am painting I especially lose track of time. Immersed in the colors, shapes and textures of flowers and other subjects is a deep meditative process for me.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Jeanette Salzburg, a soulful Spirit that has been drawing, painting and creating ever since I can remember. I studied graphic design and computer graphics at the Colorado Institute of Art. However, I soon realized I was not interested in commercial art, but craved the quiet contemplation that Fine Art offered.
I studied at the Art Student League with several master painters and have have taken Botanical Illustration classes at the Denver Botanic Gardens through the years following.
Nature provides everything that inspires me.
Studying oil painting was my passion for many years, but I keep coming back to watercolors. This new chapter will be primarily painting in watercolors and sketching with pen and ink.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
When I began studying Shamanism. Journeying to the depths of the Spirit World has given me a deeper understanding of myself and my work. Sometimes my doodle sketches will often take on a more surreal vibe, so I will just let that take me to a deeper dimension of creativity.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Moving on from the painful experiences of the past has taught me to stay rooted in the current moment and appreciate the things that I have. It’s important to me to live every day as if it’s the last, and make every day count.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
That compassion and patience don’t matter. That money is more important that spiritual growth.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That my work comes from the heart and that I have contributed Spiritual knowledge and understanding of Life to others. Also a legacy of rescuing many dogs and cats!
