We recently had the chance to connect with Kariz Zozaya and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Kariz, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Honestly, reading has been my little joy lately. I’m working through The Secret of Secrets by Dan Brown, he’s one of my favorites because he mixes fact and fiction so well. I don’t get much downtime, so I really look forward to sneaking in a few pages whenever I can.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Kariz, the owner of Eclipse Creative Design Studio, where I specialize in personalized laser engraving and custom gifts for businesses, realtors, and special events. I love transforming ideas into meaningful, one-of-a-kind pieces that people can treasure or use to stand out in their branding. Alongside my creative work, I’ve also expanded into concierge med spa services as a separate business, offering personalized aesthetic treatments directly to clients’ homes. I’m an aesthetic nurse at LaserAway, where I continue to grow my skills in medical aesthetics. Balancing both the creative and clinical sides of my career has allowed me to serve my community in unique and fulfilling ways
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that has shaped me the most is the one I have with my 9-year-old daughter. Becoming her mom changed the way I see myself. She has taught me patience, resilience, and what it means to show up with love even on the hardest days. She pushes me to grow, to stay grounded, and to be someone she can look up to.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
The deepest wounds I’ve carried came from losing my high school sweetheart and later losing my first child at seven months because of genetic challenges. Those losses changed the way I see life and myself. I’ve also been through layoffs that forced me to rebuild when I least expected it. Healing for me has looked like allowing myself to feel the grief, leaning on the people who love me, and choosing to grow instead of shutting down. Those experiences made me stronger, softer, and more intentional about the life I’m creating.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
In the engraving world, there’s this idea that custom work is quick, effortless, or low-cost. The truth is, every piece takes creativity, design time, materials, and a lot of behind-the-scenes skill that people don’t always see. Good engraving is intentional and handcrafted, even when machines are involved. In aesthetics, another myth is that beauty is about perfection. Most of us just want to feel natural, refreshed, and confident, never overdone.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I’d stop caring about what people think. Life’s too short for anyone else’s opinions to direct it.
