Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Katya Leonovich of Chelsea

We recently had the chance to connect with Katya Leonovich and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Katya, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I love to pet my rat

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am artist and gallery owner. I have my gallery in the heart of Chelsea art community.
As an artist I working in neoexpressionism style according to the art critics. I am award winner of NAWA (national association of women artists of America).
As a gallerist I focus of women arts. Painting, sculpture, photography are in priority for my exhibitions.
My goal is to find more talented women artists and give the exposure.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
The moment I am taking the brush everything comes to the hurmony.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
All these questions are pretty dramatic. I was always dreaming to be artist. I had no doubt about my destiny. What can I say? I I just can say — Go!

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
I truly believe that fine arts will be always the top of my priority. I will never permit plagiarism in my gallery. Or the so called “hotel arts”.
The quality of my art series will be carefully selected as well as other projects.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If immortality were real, what would you build?
I have to improve my arts and try several genres. I have to build the museum of women’s arts in New York.
