We’re looking forward to introducing you to KC FLASH. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning KC , we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What battle are you avoiding?
A battle that I am avoiding at the moment. Is the battle of my mind vs my heart. It’s that battle that we all go through at least once in life where we get stuck between only ”Chasing The Bag”, where you only fulfill 1%-25% of your childhood goals, or persistently only pursuing your childhood dreams while struggling financially, spiritually, emotionally, and even sometimes physically. That “Trade-off” is the #1 battle that I’ve been avoiding.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My Name is KC, You May Know Me As KC FLASH, KC CAPPA, or KCin4K. I’m mainly a musician but I also am a content creator, actor, business owner, & creative director. Interestingly, every skill set that I possess co-exists with one another and can be seen with any and every project that I’ve done. Some would call me “jack of all trades” because I can wear the hat to most positions. Right now I’m working on releasing an EP/Albums towards the end of the year highlighting many unreleased songs dating back to the beginning of my music career and some recently recorded. Not spoken of until now, I’ll be planning to host a listening release party for the EP/Albums where I’ll also be announcing a big change about the future of my music.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
I believe the part of me that has served its purpose and must now be released is the “self-less/helpful” part of me. The part of me that would go out my way and give all that I can to help someone. Especially the times when it isn’t reciprocated. The part of me that makes sure everyone has food on their plate before there is even a plate sitting in front of me to eat off of. It has hindered me for quite some time and I believe now is the time that I am “all for me”. Selfish if you will.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There has been many times where I almost “gave up”. Honestly, everyday I pretty much “ALMOST” give up, throw my hands up, allow the damage to be done while I watch. I believe the way I was raised prohibits me from fully giving up. My natural inclination accepts defeat as in giving up but my soul, mind, and heart molded by the environments I grew up in only allows me to give in, never to give up.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
I believe that today, smart people are totally getting it wrong believing that books, education, and numbers are parallel to experience when it comes real world issues. I believe that most smart people that don’t understand any “street knowledge” vs “book knowledge” shouldn’t be asked questions or answer any questions about “street situations”. And vice versa. Not to highlight the streets as if I’m all knowing of it but to say generally smart people should be asked about situations and concerns that they have studied years to learn and have credible experience in and not be asked a question about a concern off the basis of them meeting a standard of a criteria and not hands-on experiences.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I have no obligations or responsibilities to anything or anyone. When I can do the things that I love without interruptions until I am drained from doing them. I am at most peace by myself when I’m trying to better myself.
