Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Kevin Hinton of Northeast DC

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Kevin Hinton. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Kevin, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
In the near future, I am actively pursuing several exciting endeavors. One of these is the establishment of a dedicated space that will serve as a hub for content creation and collaboration. The prospect of this project materializing is filled with immense joy and anticipation.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a guy that’s from one of the illest cities on the planet, and from a very crazy time in history that gave birth to an amazing love and admiration for music, movies, photography, art, and any way to tell that story. My company Kreative 71 is just that , a way to take every passion that I’ve had since I can remember and build a life from those very things gifted to me since I was a kid.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
This would undoubtedly be my ability to dwell in the past, especially when it comes to moving forward and improving for the future. You see, this was the way I had to survive and persevere during challenging times, and I never had many positive things to focus on. Therefore, this is no longer necessary because there is so much new light that shines beyond my past and the negative memories it holds.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Oh my goodness, I’m feeling overwhelmed! When I give up, I mean, I just give up completely. I try to stay in a positive mindset by reviewing my work before starting a new project, but it’s never-ending. I’ve learned to zone it out, but I’m still learning and growing from this experience.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. There’s no filter or mask on me/. Truly what you see is what’s there. It’s more of the same as you get to know me, along with new and more exciting things as we travel through this life.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
He was a real gem, super talented, generous, and hilarious. He loved his job and was always there to help others make their dream life a reality through creativity. .
