Hi Lady, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity is absolutely thee most important thing to me. You can always learn and enhance your intelligence. You can adapt and do what needs to be done for energy but, what you cannot do is compromise your integrity. Integrity is the very foundation of what builds your character and keeps you from not compromising your soul. Never put a for sale sign on your soul or moral compass.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Chaz M. Cunningham-Coggins, I am both a professional DJ & Independent Business Owner of Lady P’s Temple Love Wellness Juices & Health Snacks. I have been DJing as of now for over 13 years both Nationally and Internationally. If I had to describe myself and what makes me gifted at what I do on the DJ scene, I would say my ability to read the room & control it through music. As a DJ it is so much more than just pressing play. It’s timing, knowing what the room and people need, even if they don’t know they need it. It’s mixing songs and opening up a musical ear smoothly, while giving an unforgettable experience. I would say I pride myself on achieving that when I DJ.
My other business Lady P’s Temple Love Wellness Juices & Health Snacks was officially launched April 1, 2025. I started making wellness shots in 2019 for a few friends and family. They would always tell me how much it helped them and had been encouraging me for years to launch it as a business. I was hesitant for awhile not knowing if I could do it or not. I started because of my battle with my own health issues and wanting to find more natural ways to stay healthy. A friend of mine Mareka Clark is into alot of organic ways and taught me what to look for when going the natural route which sparked more of my curiosity and has always been an encouraging friend throughout our meeting back in college, from her opening my eyes to the holistic way of doing things I started creating recipes, remixing familiar recipes and adding my own touch and measurements to my own creations. Everything is hand pressed, brewed, no artificial sugars or preservatives by myself. After years went by of being hesitant I finally listened to my other sister-friend Mirraje in officially birthing Lady P’s Temple Love. Mirraje has also helped me with learning how to design my vendor pop ups, helped me sell, and I have a signature drink that is in collaboration with her & J Reigns luxury clothing brand The Black Rose Collection, that I’m actually a Brand Ambassador for called “Black Rose Punch”. Interestingly enough I originally majored in Culinary Arts & Hospitality Management. Now here I am working diligently to bring the vision God gave me to life with the support and love from my family & friends.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was a shy, non-confident girl trying to figure out where I fit in and if I could fit in. I had navigate various challenges in life that began at 9 years old. I wouldn’t say it was the world who told me I had to be. I would seriously and mandatorily say it was God who told me who I had to be, for a greater purpose than myself. I understand that now and I also know everything unfolded the way it did to bring me and continue bringing me to the very place I am at now.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely, more times than I care to admit. Times of depression, overwhelming anxiety, fear, doubt, and feeling like I couldn’t meet the standards society tends to place on people. If I didn’t have some of the solid friends and family that I do, not to mention my Faith that always brings me back to where my focus needs to be, I would’ve given up. Purpose has a away of not letting you run from the very reason for your existence. It’s like you may stop for awhile or a moment but what is naturally instilled on the inside of you will never let you go. You’ll dream about it, think about it, something may even remind you of it until you go back to the basics and embrace your purpose.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Without question yes. Everything must be real, even if you are only giving need to know things for people to see and experience, it must be authentic. It takes too much energy to portray someone that you aren’t, not to mention every time you do, you are missing out on the liberating freedom of walking intentionally in who you are as a person. I feel like most people that pretend are drowning in unhappiness and they don’t know who they truly are to feel like they have to be someone they’re not to be validated by human beings who bleed the same as them.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
My hope is that they tell a story of perseverance, love, overcoming, inspiration, what Faith looks like, that I stood for something of value and didn’t waver.
