Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with LaNaja Love of Columbus

We recently had the chance to connect with LaNaja Love and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning LaNaja, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Stillness. As I am getting older I am truly realizing the importance and peace in just being still in being in the presence of the Lord and listening. I don’t always have to be on the guy or busy, I can truly find security in comfort and slowing down to just be.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a Licensed Insurance Agent and Wig Specialist. My platforms have been built off of my expertise in hair and beauty. I truly enjoy connecting with people. I enjoy the ability to be safe for people. I enjoy the learning curves when it comes to navigating life and relationships. My goal has always been to do what I love and make people feel loved while I’m at it. So anything I do will have purpose, meaning and passion behind it.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that really shaped how I see the world will always be having my children. Kids give you such a huge insight on how we come into this world completely innocent and naive to the ways of the world and over time people and situations will begin to shape who you are. So in saying that, how I treat not only my babies but people shapes who they really are and even in the knowing that I won’t be perfect and I will make mistakes. I strive to be a decent human daily.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me the true meaning of endurance and suffering well. I believe we as humans have a natural instinct to run away from pain, trauma, chaos and all the things that don’t feel good but to actually sit in those things built character and personality and depth that the best moments in life never could. Suffering truly humbles you.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say my character and my relationship with the Lord matters most to me. I am not the most perfect person but I strive daily to be honest and operate with integrity in everything I do whether it’s professionally or personally. I aim to be a good human being with each new day.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I believe there are a good amount of people in this world who do truly understand the importance of each moment with each brand new day. I don’t want to waste a moment. With every new day I want to give it my all and sometimes that’s hard. Sometimes life is seriously heavy but I want to make sure my children see an example of someone who wasted nothing God gave them.
