Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Laura Williams

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Laura Williams. Check out our conversation below.

Laura, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day is getting to work 30 minutes early so I can check my emails in the car before starting my workday. Throughout the day when I have breaks is when I work on band interviews. In the evenings when I get home is when I send out interview requests or I respond to others in the business sending bands in my direction.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Here is my current bio:

Vinyl Lollipops is a platform founded by Laura Williams in 2010, initially as an extension of her photography page featuring women posing with records. The name “Lollipop” was a childhood nickname she adopted for the ladies. In 2018, after a radio DJ canceled interviews with a band she knew, Laura took the initiative to conduct and publish interviews herself, leading to over 1,500 written interviews to date.

Featured interviews include:
Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Kittie, Tantric, Tony Dolan from Venom Inc, Smile Empty Soul, Every Mothers Nightmare, Raven, Saliva, Soil, Mike Skill from the Romantics, Madison VanDenberg from American Idol, model Bobbie Jean Brown (Cherry Pie), and over 1,500 bands from around the world.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
Being a mom definitely makes you want to be a better person. Not only for your kids but for yourself as well. I have a son and a daughter who are both in their 20s now!

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
It’s a long ride, but it’s definitely worth it! Hang in there!

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Family, friends, and laughter.

They would probably actually say food. (LOL).

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Of course. I think a lot of us do.
