Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Laurence Dallas II of Atlanta,GA ,

Laurence Dallas II shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Laurence, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Laurence Dallas — a creative in sports media who’s been fortunate enough to work with ESPN and other leading organizations in the industry. At the same time, I’m building my own brand, Clear the Air, which shines a light on HBCU sports and stories that don’t always make the headlines. My journey is unique because I’m learning from the biggest platforms in the game while also creating something original for my community

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My parents

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
For sure — I almost gave up when I lost my scholarship. At that point, it felt like my whole plan fell apart. I was stressed, frustrated, and honestly thought about just stepping away. But that experience ended up being a turning point. It taught me that I couldn’t let one setback define me. I had to bet on myself, and in doing so, I found a new level of drive that still pushes me now in sports media.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
For me, it’s Steph Curry. I admire him because even with all the success, he carries himself with humility and faith. He’s proof that you don’t have to change who you are to reach the highest levels. That’s something I try to apply to my own journey.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What will you regret not doing?
I think the one thing I’ll regret is not ever playing a college game on paper. That was something I wanted badly, but life took me in a different direction. The silver lining is it gave me a front-row seat to impact sports in another way — through media, storytelling, and building platforms like Clear the Air. So while I didn’t get that moment as a player, I’ve found another way to stay in the game.
