Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Leslie Wilkinson Archila of Baltimore

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Leslie Wilkinson Archila. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Leslie, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
My life’s pretty simple—and I love it that way! It’s just the three of us: my husband, my daughter, and me… oh, and our fourth (and furriest) family member, Biscuit the dog. We may be a small crew, but my heart is full. Nothing makes me happier than soaking up time with my little bunch. Outside of work (which I actually enjoy too!), we’re all about making the most of every moment. Whether it’s a walk in the park, hanging at the playground, or just goofing around at home, we try to squeeze the joy out of life—because time flies, and the little things are what really matter.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I was born in Los Angeles but raised in Guatemala, where I studied Interior Design at the University of Istmo. After graduating, I opened my first design studio in Guatemala City—it was such an exciting time building my portfolio and creating great relationships with my clients.

In 2010, I moved to Baltimore and became the lead designer at Su Casa. I spent over a decade there designing showroom layouts, curating furniture collections, and working closely with vendors. It was an amazing experience that really helped shape my style and grow as a designer.

Now, I run my own business—Archila Interiors! I offer a wide range of design services for both homes and businesses. Whether you need help with furniture layouts, finish selections, a kitchen design, paint colors, wallpaper, or even window treatments, I create personalized solutions that fit your style and needs.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
In 2018 and 2019, I went through one of the most difficult times in my life—I lost both my nephew and my brother. Those moments left a deep mark on my heart, and they changed the way I see life. Over the years, time has helped me find peace and accept that life is fragile and unpredictable. We never really know how long we’ll have with the people we love, which is why I try to live with intention every single day. I make it a point to express love often, to be present, and to enjoy the little moments. Life is precious, and I believe in living it fully—as if each day could be your last!

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Please be gentle with yourself. You don’t need to change who you are—because just as you are, you’re enough. You’ve always been a kind, loving soul with a warm heart that truly cares for others. Your beauty shines both inside and out. Don’t forget to care for yourself the way you care for those around you—you deserve that same love and compassion.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Oh, 100%—what you see is what you get with me! I’m the same person no matter who’s around. Honestly, I even manage to embarrass myself sometimes—LOL! I do have these little talks with myself like, “Okay, maybe don’t say everything that pops into your head…” but hey, it keeps life interesting!

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope that when people think or talk about me, they remember me as someone who truly cared—someone who poured her heart into her work as a designer and always put her clients first. I also hope they see how much I’ve tried to be the best mom and wife I can be, always giving my best in every part of my life.
