We’re looking forward to introducing you to Lisa Nicole . Check out our conversation below.
Hi Lisa , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
I am doing a lot of work behind the scenes. I a photographer and take 90 percent of my pictures. I also make my own wigs even though I advertise a few brands.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Lisa Nicole and I am a content creator and photographer. I went to college for Fashion Design and I love to do hair. I used to draw for years and even won awards for art. I even tried to start a T-shirt and bag business. I stopped drawing after I had my son. I didn’t really have time for anything else except being a mom. A few years later I had my daughter and I had become so busy. That is when I decided I needed something to get me back to my creative space. I decided I wanted to start creating content on social media and taking photography seriously.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I felt powerful when I shot my first NYFW Fashion Show. .
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, I almost gave up on content creation after we had a house fire. It was a very traumatic experience and I had more important things to deal with. I had to move several times, while still working full time and being a mother. We also had to repurchase almost everything essential in our house. Needless to say content creation wasn’t a priority. But, I slowly eased back into it.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, the public version of me is the real me. I stay true to myself and my brand. I am private about a lot of things. But, I will always share as much as I can. I want to make my family proud of me and leave a legacy that I worked hard.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m with my kids. They give me life and are my biggest cheerleaders.
