Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Mari Hashimoto

Mari Hashimoto shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Mari, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I would say it would be my inner psychic world – it’s extremely visual and imaginative. It’s a powerful, inspiring force that has given me a sense of direction in my life and manifest what I need to move forward.

Now thinking about it, I’ve had quite the imaginative mind since childhood! It’s related to my intuitive abilities, where I tap into an external energy (some people may call it The Creator or The Source.) Naturally trusting and tapping into this Source energy has fueled me at my highest and lowest points in my life. With the inspiring intuitive visions I see in my mind’s eye, it has given me the motivation and courage to fully step into myself.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I decided to fully commit to working with my strength and what anchors me – my intuition. And since this is something I had as a child, it felt very natural for me to dedicate my life using my psychic abilities to read into why people were experiencing blocks in their lives and facilitating healing sessions to release themselves from limiting beliefs. Oftentimes these limiting beliefs such as “I am unworthy of love.” is embedded in our early experiences, past lives, and ancestral beliefs that is playing out in our day-to-day, making ourselves unhappy and stuck.

My work, is to go into a meditative state and communicate with the Spirit World why those negative thoughts are there, and close the karmic lessons to release you from limiting thoughts. This work is called Akashic Records reading and healing (and others may call it energy work.)

And if you’re wondering what it is, it’s about healing your soul contract. We all have a soul contract containing details about who we are to meet and be with, the lessons we are to learn from each other so we all grow spiritually, and all these wonderful details about other lives you have lived in other times. It’s a beautiful history of your soul’s journeys. Everyone’s soul contract is different, and it’s such a joy to explore and share what I see in your Akashic Record and all the wonderful adventures you are meant to have. I love combining Akashic Record work with Reiki, a Japanese healing modality rooted in my culture. For me, it’s been powerful using these two to not only create shifts within my clients, but give them the extra spiritual boost to continue moving forward.

After a session my clients often find that their lives suddenly shift. A feeling of lightness and feeling connected to their lives, the right job opportunity presents themselves, their health improves, or they begin calling in the people who support this new version of themselves. When we heal our soul contracts and release heavy blocks, a greater understanding of our purpose can come to light.

There are clients I have worked with for almost a decade, and witnessing their soul’s evolution has been a great honour and an absolute delight!

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
That would be my elementary school principal, David Polard! I remember him so well because he was such a calm presence. At the end of the school year, awards would be handed out. As my seven-year-old self was sitting in the school gymnasium with others, I was shocked to hear my name called. I went up to receive my award, but wasn’t sure what it was all about. Later that evening, I had someone in my family explain. It was a humanitarian award. As an adult reflecting back, I remember when a classmate got hurt, I would go and put my arm around them. The principal must have witnessed this and wanted to acknowledge this aspect of me.

Growing up with an extremely critical parent, being recognized by another adult that I was a good human being was life-changing. It helped me to feel better about myself.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
Playing small. There was this belief of “Don’t stand out too much.” – somehow it was all related to the fear of being rejected (and even a fear of being bullied, as that was part of my childhood.) I made great strides in this area, but it is still a work in progress. I’m quite shy of putting myself out there. When I got this inner nudge to start a YouTube channel offering intuitive guidance, I shrank at first. Instead of hiding, I thought I should begin by taking baby steps. I realized I didn’t have to jump into the deep end right away by recording myself.

I began with releasing videos with just a background image and my voice. Now that I’ve been doing this for a couple of years and feeling comfortable, I’m feeling ready to record myself and slowly step out of the shadows. I’m more comfortable showing my face to my Patreon community, as I know and worked with the members for many years.

As an extremely shy and introverted person, I’m learning to take steps that are comfortable for me, but also encourages me to take another brave step forward. What encouraged me to take this step was an event that occurred this past summer.

As my best friend and I were walking outside, I tended to lean towards the shaded areas – but she said to me: “Let’s walk in the sun.” I realized there was a hidden message from the divine realm that she channeled without knowing: It’s time to step out into the light.

But I also understand that being out there needs to be balanced with retreating into the “shade” – and that may be a bit of self-care or taking a brief break to recharge my inner spiritual batteries until I’m ready to be out in the public light again. Learning to balance things and protect myself, yet still encourage inner growth is a continuing lesson for me!

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
Honoring nature as a sacred spirit.

I was raised on the Buddhist spiritual belief that there is a spirit in everything. Trees, mountains, creatures – everything in the natural world held a spirit within them.

Where I live, I am surrounded by nature. One day, I was feeling low on energy. Without thinking, I automatically faced the mountains, placed my hands together in prayer pose, and asked the spirit inside the mountain for some boost in my overall health. I felt something – a wave of energy come over me, and within a few hours I was feeling vibrant again. In that moment, I briefly articulated what had happened and it made me more determined to continue this spiritual practice of being in nature, honoring it, and asking it for help when needed.

This practice has definitely opened doors to other ways of connecting to Earth’s medicines – plants, and even collecting feathers and branches to create spiritual healing tools for healers. When one practices something naturally with dedication, various opportunities to grow as a person presents itself.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
I’m definitely waking up excited to begin my workday these days! I recently purchased a new camera to begin filming myself and my work. I’m learning the art of visual storytelling, and I have so many video ideas of sharing things that could help people feel more aligned with their soul’s purpose here on earth or strengthening their psychic abilities to make confident decisions for themselves. I also want to share things I’ve learned the hard way, so others don’t have to.

As I move forward to step out of my comfort zone and grow, I hope to share things that are helpful and inspiring to others. This includes sharing the ordinary moments too, as they are often the most powerful teachers.
