Hi Martika, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my morning are dedicated to personal time. I wake up at 5:00 A.M. and spend that time reflecting, praying, and reading my Bible before showering and going for a walk. I don’t check my phone until 7:30. Protecting this “me time” is essential—it sets the tone for the rest of my day.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Martika Bell, the owner and founder of Belle Swimwear & Intimates. I launched Belle Swimwear seven years ago as a ready-to-wear brand, and today I’m proud to introduce our very first custom collection, designed by me. Belle Swimwear was created for many reasons, but above all, to celebrate body confidence—because the perfect body is the one you’re in.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
My maternal grandfather taught me the most about hard work. He was always taking on different occupations, believing in the importance of pursuing every dream. No matter what path he chose, he gave it his all—always putting 100% into everything he did.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, there was a time when I almost gave up. Five years ago, after losing my mom, life became incredibly difficult, and I seriously considered walking away from Belle Swimwear. But I held on to the reason I started and the pride my mom felt while she was here. More recently, I faced the same struggle after losing two siblings this year, along with other hardships. This time, it wasn’t motivation that carried me—it was discipline. Life can be heavy and emotionally draining, but no matter what, you have to keep going.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes the public version is the real me, however I do let my hair down more when I’m with the people I love the most.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What false labels are you still carrying?
That I have to do everything myself. It’s nothing wrong with seeking help & out sourcing.
