Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Meredith Mashburn

We recently had the chance to connect with Meredith Mashburn and have shared our conversation below.

Meredith, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I’m not always sure I’m walking a path or simply wandering-but even in my drift, I arrive where I’m meant to be. These days, I explore with intention, capturing my journey through the lens. Seeking not only direction, but light- both the kind that fills the frame and the kind that fills the soul. Enlightenment, joy, balance, love… they reveal themselves, one photo, one step, one moment at a time.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Meredith Mashburn, a professional photographer with over 25 years of experience capturing the world through a lens. My work is rooted in storytelling—visual narratives that explore the intersection of art, humanity, and activism. What makes my brand unique is the belief that photography isn’t just about preserving a moment—it’s about being in the moment, and using the camera as a tool for connection, awareness, and transformation.
From the wild landscapes of Arkansas to the electric energy of New York City, I’ve sought out stories that reflect both beauty and truth. My ongoing series, “Wildflower,” explores the healing frequency of color—how it affects mood, energy, and emotional well-being—while “Wild Rising” celebrates individuals who are making a positive impact on the planet through innovation, advocacy, and heart-led action.
I’ve also had the privilege of photographing emerging artists at the Crystal Bridges Museum and capturing immersive experiences at The Momentary. These projects continue to shape how I see the role of art—not only as expression but as a catalyst for meaningful change.
At its core, my work is about raising the vibration of humanity, one frame at a time. I’m here to tell stories that matter and to inspire a more conscious, connected, and compassionate world through the power of visual storytelling.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that quietly accepted being undervalued—for my time, energy, and talent—has fulfilled its role and can now be released. It came from a place of humility and resilience, but I no longer need to dim my light to belong or prove my worth. I’m stepping into a season where I honor my value deeply and surround myself with aligned, inspiring people who do the same. I choose to work with those who bring integrity, creativity, and mutual respect to the table.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
Honestly, it was the pandemic. That global pause forced me into solitude and, more importantly, into myself. Everything I had been carrying—quietly, invisibly—rose to the surface. One after another, life kept handing me moments I couldn’t ignore: the pandemic hit, my house burned, my car broke, and then my dad had a stroke. It felt relentless. But somewhere in the middle of all that upheaval, something became very clear: it was time to heal.
I had people depending on me, and I realized I couldn’t keep pouring from an empty cup. The pain that I had tucked away for years wasn’t just a burden—it was a map. A guide pointing me inward. That moment marked the beginning of my healing journey. I stopped hiding, started honoring what I’d been through, and chose to turn that pain into purpose.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
A belief I’m deeply committed to—no matter how long it takes—is that healing starts within. I truly believe that when we each take time to heal ourselves, that energy ripples outward—into our relationships, our communities, and ultimately, our relationship with the planet. My ongoing purpose is to live and create from this truth. Through my work, my art, and my presence, I aim to be part of that healing ripple—raising awareness, deepening connection, and inspiring a more conscious, compassionate world.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
What I understand deeply is that alignment in life is everything. When something doesn’t feel right or doesn’t serve you, the best choice is to let it go—because it’s meant for someone else. Staying true to yourself means honoring what resonates and releasing what doesn’t, creating space for the right people, opportunities, and experiences to come in.
