We recently had the chance to connect with Michael Ferdinard and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Michael , we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
Of late, I’ve been working on my mind, how I perceive the world around me, and undergoing a strong mental transformation, which is evidence of self-discipline and growth.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Ferdinard Michael, a visual multidisciplinary artist from Cross River State, Nigeria. I work primarily with oil colours, exploring themes of identity, growth, resilience, and shared human experiences. My work invites self-reflection, emphasizing patience, inner peace, and the understanding that growth unfolds over time.
Through art-focused initiatives such as Sip and Paint events, my brand brings art enthusiasts and lovers together to create, connect, network, and engage in meaningful art discussions, using art as both a tool for self-expression and environmental connection.
Currently, I’m organizing an art retreat/workshop designed for artists, providing a space to learn from experienced tutors, exchange ideas, create freely, and build lasting creative networks.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with God has given me a higher level of illumination in how I see myself. I no longer doubt myself or who I’m. With Him, I move with authority and dominion, knowing His unwavering love and grace abound in me.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would say, I’m very proud of you, for every lesson you’ve learned, the silent battles you’ve overcome, and for standing strong amidst the chaos of this world.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Faith and spirituality
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I find my peace when I’m lost in creating, art is deep and therapeutic and for me personally I feel the most peace when I’m in my studio painting, sketching or sculpting.
