Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Mikayla Myers of Columbia

Mikayla Myers shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Mikayla, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I’m chasing financial freedom. Not just money, but the peace that comes with knowing I’m not surviving, I’m living. I’m chasing the ability to breathe without counting bills in my head, to choose rest without guilt, to create without worrying if the lights will stay on. I’m chasing stability, comfort, and the version of myself who no longer operates from fear. If I stopped, the world wouldn’t end… but a part of me would. Stopping would mean settling for a life smaller than the one I know I’m capable of. It would mean ignoring the dreams that keep tugging at me, the ones that whisper “There’s more for you.”

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Mikayla Myers, a 28-year-old artist and business consultant based in Columbia, South Carolina. Through my brand, Divine Creations, I bring imagination to life with handcrafted resin art, candles, and original paintings. Each piece are designed to inspire beauty, peace, and purpose. When I’m not creating art, I’m helping others bring their business visions to life. As a Business Consultant, I specialize in business plan writing, streamlining operations, financial planning, and marketing strategies that empower entrepreneurs to grow with clarity and confidence. Whether I’m crafting a stunning work of art or building a strong business foundation, my mission is the same…to create, inspire, and help others succeed.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
Becoming a mother completely transformed how I see myself. Not just as a woman, but as a creator, leader, and nurturer in every part of my life. Motherhood has taught me patience, resilience, and balance. It pushed me to grow in ways I never imagined, reminding me that strength doesn’t always look like perfection. Sometimes it’s found in showing up, even on the hardest days.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering became my silent teacher whispering lessons success could never speak. It stripped away everything I thought I was and showed me who I truly am. It taught me to sit with pain instead of running from it, to find beauty in brokenness, and strength in surrender.

Success celebrates the victory, but suffering reveals the warrior. It showed me that peace isn’t found in having everything together. It’s found in learning to breathe through the unraveling.

Through every tear, I found truth. Through every loss, I found purpose. And in the quiet spaces where no one clapped. I met the most authentic version of myself the one who creates, loves, and rises, not because life is easy. But, because I finally understand the power in surviving it.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I admire those who lead with heart instead of ego, the quiet souls who lift others even when no one’s watching. The ones who choose kindness over control, and compassion over competition.

Power can impress people, but character touches them. I find myself inspired by those who stay gentle in a harsh world, who remain honest when it would be easier to pretend, and who keep showing up with love even after being hurt.

It’s not titles or achievements that move me; it’s humility, authenticity, and grace. I admire people who live with purpose, who create from truth, and who remind me that real strength doesn’t shout. It shines quietly from within.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
I think I’ll regret the things I was too afraid to start the dreams I tucked away for “someday.” I’ll regret not speaking up when my heart had something to say, not creating when my soul begged to be seen, not taking the leap because I was waiting for perfect timing that never came.

I’ll regret the love I didn’t express, the moments I didn’t slow down to feel, and the faith I didn’t trust enough to follow.

More than anything, I’ll regret if I let fear silence my purpose.
