Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Monét Anaïs of Los Angeles, CA

We recently had the chance to connect with Monét Anaïs and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Monét, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I am big on owning the morning! Own the morning and you’ll own the day. The first thing I do is drink some water and take my supplements. I avoid scrolling on the phone or taking phone calls (I don’t always get up super early because my brain goes into hyperfocus mode after midnight, it seems lol) so that I can keep my peace. Next, I journal and do something to move my body, like a bit of yoga or a walk, or get into a full workout. Pilates is my fave and I can do it from home! I grab tea and eat, then I’m ready to work.

Mel Robbins discusses morning habits, forming your day, and hearing her discuss the importance of doing things like staying off your phone, moving your body, dumping all your thoughts out on paper – it wasn’t brand new, but the last time I heard it, it hit home. Because to be honest, I was slacking. I love to scroll and see what I missed. Sometimes, I feel lazy and don’t want to get up yet, but when I do this routine and have a system in place, I feel 100 times better.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I grew up in Southern California – a true valley girl at heart! I’m a music artist, song and script writer, digital creator, media innovator, and music/tv producer.

Since a young age, I’ve been singing and writing, and knew I wanted to work in Hollywood doing just that. And now I am! Most recently, my team is working with Ray J and his network Tronix that’s just like Hulu or Netflix, and I’m behind the scenes strategizing and building.

It’s fun working BTS but my heart is in my artistry. Last month, I released my new songs “DOWN” and “Fact of the Matter”, and have been working on a web-series “Monet Goes To LA”, coming soon!

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I remember being just three years old when my mom first put me in dance classes. What a time that was. I learned the basics of movement, but it was the recital that changed everything for me. Stepping onto that stage and performing in front of an audience was such a defining moment. That was when I realized how much I loved being on stage. It gave me a deep sense of confidence, a feeling that I had the strength within me to do this — to shine in front of others.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I’ve had a few times where “giving up” crossed my mind but I’ve never fed those seeds of doubt. On two different occasions, I was chosen to be on a TV show. Each time I had gone through every step to get in…audition to audition to application, to contracts signed to officially being chosen to filming dates planned. Each time I was disappointed, the rug was taken from under my feet just a few days from the first filming date. Looking back on it, it’s strange! Two completely different shows, two different years I was chosen, different situations as to why it didn’t work out, but both ended similarly. It was extremely disappointing, but I believe in things happening the way they’re supposed to and for a reason!

Hollywood is not for the weak-minded. I knew that if I gave those seeds the water to live and grow, then I really would fail. Instead, I keep my head up and keep going.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes! Haha. I think about that sometimes because so many people have their stage name, stage persona…Beyonce vs Sasha fierce. But I am me, Monét Anaïs, through and through. As an artist, it’s important for people to get to know who you are as a person; fans care about that. As fun as it would be to have a stage name or have a different version of myself whenever I’m out at an event or on TV, I’m cool just being me.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What will you regret not doing?
Giving it my all!
