Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Narkis Eserig of New Paltz NY

Hi Narkis, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I have two teens (boy & girl), who are my life. They keep me on my toes and make me laugh on regular basis, just by being their goofy self. We all love to travel, and take every chance we can to explore new places.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Narkis Eserig, I was born and raised in Israel. Moved to the United States in 2002, and have been here ever since.
Growing up I didn’t have many opportunities to go out and explore the world, as things were a lot different back then, than they are nowadays.
When I decided to move to NY State, I made a life changing decision, leaving everyone and everything I’ve known behind.
At that moment on my way to discover a new world, I promised myself that I will be traveling the world, as often as I can.
I moved to NY as an Au-Pair. Being a part of a great girl’s life for a year, went to college, and became a full time barber.
Fast forward a few years, the pandemic hit, and made many of us shift to different places and/ or mindset. For me it was a good time to pursue my love of traveling. I started my journey, and career as a Travel Agent/ Advisor mid pandemic.
I always planned, booked, and made all the arrangements for vacations, getaways for myself, my family and friends. Which made me realize “why not do what I love?!” as the saying goes “If you do what you love, you don’t work a day in your life” which I try to live by.
I have named my travel business BeachWave Travel as my true passion for the ocean and everything that comes with it, which I thought was creative, catchy, and authentic to what I truly love.
Having two kids, who absolutely love to travel, and easy to travel with taught me, life is short, do what you love, and that we need to make things happen, after all, we will always chase time and money. Money can be made, but time cannot. So live life to the fullest and do what make you happy.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
The one thing that breaks a bond between people is Trust. If you have no trust in one another things won’t last long. Betrayal is a very hard thing to fix or gain back, as the hurt and the damage is not very easy to overcome. We all go through different stages or phases in life, but if we cheat or treat people wrong, it usually causes us to drift away from one another, either temporarily or permanently. So treat people the way you would like to be treated, even if it’s not always as easy.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say something kind to my young self, it would be:
Be true to yourself, and do what makes you happy, don’t let anyone tell you or make you feel you are not good enough. You are a strong, loving and kind person who wants to make everyone around you happy,
You will become the person you are meant to be, full of life and love to yourself and everyone around you!

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say about me: Narkis is a strong, independent person. She has been through some rough times, but she didn’t let that define her. She always has a smile on her face, and truly believes that no matter how tough life may get, it’s only temporary. Keep a positive attitude, and one smile can brighten up someone else’s whole day.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I only had 10 years left
I would make sure I take my kids and travel the world. I would want to spend every given moment spending time with my kids, creating memories. I would love to take a cruise around the world, and maybe even live on a cruise ship, as it’s the easiest way to visit the many countries around the globe.
