We recently had the chance to connect with Preaundrea Franklin and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Preaundrea, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
Yes. Slowing down to think before I react or respond has made my life more easy and less dramatic.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, my name is Preaundrea Franklin. I’m a singer, lyricist, and recent Entertainment Management graduate from Coppin State University, based in Baltimore.. I’ve always had a deep passion for music and theatre. While I’m not yet working full-time in the entertainment industry, I’m actively building toward it—through performing, writing, and gaining hands-on experience with local arts organizations.
What makes my story unique is that I’ve stayed committed to my creative path even when it’s been hard to see where it’s leading. I’ve released original music rooted in real emotion and personal growth, and I’ve found ways to stay connected to the performing arts—whether it’s behind the scenes or on stage.
Right now, I’m focused on continuing to grow as an artist and finding meaningful ways to contribute to the entertainment world, especially in spaces where authenticity and heart matter most.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
This is a deep one! Before the world told me who I needed to be, I was a curious, creative kid who loved to sing, tell stories, and dream big. I wasn’t thinking about being the best or being “successful”, I just knew that music moved me and that performing made me feel alive. I was sensitive, observant, and expressive, even when I didn’t always have the words to explain what I felt. Over time, I started to shrink myself to fit into other people’s expectations—playing it safe, being more practical, or not take up too much space. But deep down, that same little girl is still in me. And I think now, as an adult, I’m trying to reconnect with her unapologetically. I want to create, express, and live in a way that feels true to who I’ve always been, not just who the world has been telling me I should be.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me things success never could like how to bounce back, sit with my feelings, and keep going even when life’s being extra. Success is cool, but struggle? That’s where I found my grit, my voice, and the kind of “I got this” energy you can’t fake. Plus, it makes the wins feel way more worth it.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
I honestly believe we’re all here to be givers. Not everyone’s down for that, but I think life’s better when we’re looking out for each other whether it’s with time, energy, or just good vibes. That’s just how we build real connection.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Worrying about what people think. If I had 10 years left, I’d stop second-guessing myself and trying to shrink to make others comfortable.
