Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Preston Brown

We recently had the chance to connect with Preston Brown and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Preston, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
Building a community of folks that are able to chase after a dream the same way I have been able to is for sure something to be proud of. Staying humble through the ups and downs and giving insight to others is so necessary in my opinion. It gives you a chance to reflect on what you been through with passing the knowledge to aid another’s journey. It’s always great to be successful but it’s more rewarding watching someone else strive!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Preston Brown owner of Vision By Preston. I’m blessed to operate cameras on the video and photograghy side with all levels of production. I’m able to mentor students, offer them opportunities and be a resource for them that I didn’t have. What’s been unique is get to tell beautiful stories for organizations and families from the perspective I see the world in. There’s a lot of trust and pressure in these situations to create something magical and I’m truly thankful for it.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I can’t say I’ve ever been ok with being told what I have to be. That’s what lead me to self employment and the freedom to paint the canvas with a lens.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I think there are often times that pressure will make you want to give up. The one perspective I’ve been able to see is that pressure is a blessing, it’s letting you know you are doing something right. There are many that don’t experience it, so if it’s knocking on your door open it and embrace it.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
Anyone chasing a dream is someone to admire. Content creation can be competitive and it takes courage to share your vision with the world. There are a ton of people that are standing behind a camera because they truly love it.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
The story is hope to live when I gone is that I never gave up.
