We’re looking forward to introducing you to Robert Portillo. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Robert, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
Wake up at 6:15 am. Cut up fresh fruit, feed kids, make smoothies, matcha or coffee. Drive older son to school then ride bike with younger son to school. Walk dog for 1 mile. Head to gym and do cardio for an hour and 1.5 hours weight training (twice a week) or just 1 hour cardio. Go home, shower, work until 6:30 pm. Make dinner and eat with my family. Wind down watching TV, reading, playing ping pong or Uno with kids. Go to bed at 10 pm.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Robert Portillo, founder of BroBex Marketing, where we help businesses grow by combining SEO, conversion optimization, email marketing and smart web design into one seamless strategy. We work with companies ranging from local services to national brands, building websites and campaigns that actually bring in customers—not just traffic.
What makes us different is how hands-on we are with results: we test, measure, and refine until a website isn’t just ranking but converting visitors into paying customers. Right now, I’m especially excited about helping businesses understand and leverage AI—through free classes, consulting, and custom solutions—so they stay competitive in a world that’s moving fast.
At the end of the day, my goal is simple: help good businesses grow in ways that are measurable, sustainable, and future-proof.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with my therapist, who I saw weekly for many years, and then twice a month for many more years.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Worrying what other people think of me. I don’t do that any longer.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Such a great guy. Just read his autobiography “Acid for the Children”. He’s unique, smart, kind, vulnerable and humble. And crazy – he’s one crazy mofo!
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
He loved life and lived it to its fullest, every single day.
