We recently had the chance to connect with Sapphire Starr Wilder and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Sapphire Starr, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
The most surprising thing I’ve learned about my customers is how often they already have the answers and they just need permission to believe in their own power. Whether I’m coaching women on their finances or mentoring aspiring real estate investors, I’ve noticed that most people don’t lack knowledge; they lack confidence and clarity. Once they realize that financial freedom isn’t about perfection but progress, something clicks. Watching that shift from doubt to empowerment is always the most rewarding and inspiring part of what I do.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Sapphire Starr, an author, speaker, financial wellness coach, and real estate investor dedicated to helping women rewrite their money stories and build wealth from the inside out. Through my company Organize Kaos and my community initiative Wealth Builders Savannah, I teach practical tools for mastering money, creating financial freedom, and breaking generational cycles of scarcity.
What makes my brand unique is that everything I share comes from lived experience. I went from surviving as a single mom living paycheck to paycheck to building multiple streams of income, investing in real estate, and creating a life of freedom on my own terms. My work blends mindset, money management, and mentorship to empower others to find freedom not just financially, but mentally and emotionally.
I’m currently focused on expanding The Money Bus, a mobile financial classroom bringing financial education directly into underserved communities, and sharing my message globally through speaking, writing, and media. My mission is to help people, especially women, realize that they can own their power, their purpose, and their financial future.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that most shaped how I see myself is the one I had with my Aunt Belle. She was the first person who saw the scientist in me before I even knew what that meant. When I was a little girl, she bought me my very first chemistry set. That gift didn’t just spark my curiosity; it planted the seed for a lifelong love of learning and discovery.
Aunt Belle taught me the value of education and the belief that knowledge could change your life. She constantly reminded me that it wasn’t enough to just be good at something, I had to challenge myself to be great. Her influence shaped my drive, discipline, and determination to break barriers as a Black woman in science and beyond. Every time I step into a new role or create something meaningful, I can still hear her voice reminding me that excellence isn’t optional, it’s who I am.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
One of the defining wounds of my life was growing up in an environment marked by instability and witnessing the effects of trauma and financial struggle at an early age. Those experiences made me grow up fast. Becoming a mother at fourteen added another layer of responsibility and pain, but it also gave me a powerful reason to rise.
Healing for me has been a lifelong journey of self-awareness, forgiveness, and faith. I learned to turn my pain into purpose—to take the parts of my story that once brought shame and use them as tools to help others. Through therapy, inner work, and spiritual growth, I’ve learned that resilience isn’t about pretending you’re unbreakable—it’s about allowing yourself to break, rebuild, and rise stronger. Today, I use those lessons to empower others to transform their wounds into wisdom and create lives they no longer need to escape from.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that what really matters to me is freedom. Freedom in every sense of the word—financial, emotional, mental, and spiritual. I’ve built my life and my work around helping others experience that same sense of liberation. To me, freedom means having the power to choose how you live, work, love, and give without being bound by fear or limitation. It’s about living in alignment with your purpose, walking boldly in your truth, and creating a life that feels as good as it looks. Everything I do, from my businesses to my coaching to my travels, is rooted in that belief that we are all meant to live freely.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope the story people tell about me is that I lived life on purpose and with purpose. That I turned my pain into power, my lessons into leadership, and my journey into a roadmap for others to find their freedom. I want people to remember that I showed up fully as a mother, mentor, and woman who believed that freedom wasn’t just a dream but a right for everyone.
I hope they say that I inspired others to rise, to rebuild, and to believe in what was possible for them. That I didn’t just talk about change, I created it through education, empowerment, and community. Most of all, I want my legacy to be a reminder that no matter where you start, you can live freely, love deeply, and leave a lasting impact that ripples through generations.
