We’re looking forward to introducing you to Scott Oshan. Check out our conversation below.
Scott, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
What brings me joy on a daily basis is my life and family. While being a small business owner has its challenges at times, my family and its strength are constant, its what gets me through difficult times.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Scott Oshan, and I am the CEO of Integrated Security Solutions Group (ISSG).
ISSG provides a higher tier security specialist service that works for all involved. I find that the blueprint of training, client relationships, and knowing who your staff is, makes for a successful small business.
All of our clients have direct access to all upper management 24/7 and we all know our staff by their first names, not an ID number.
Keeping that personal touch, and providing exceptional services is what makes our brand successful.
We provide Security Specialists for events, corporate or entertainment wise, including Personal Protection Officers(Bodyguards), high risk clientele, transportation options from vehicles to private jets.
Currently we are licensed in Texas and Florida and waiting on the New York license. Our client base has doubled since our last interview and I could not be prouder!
Our client testimonials speak for themselves regarding our services. Those, and a comprehensive list of our services provided are available on our website. www.issgllc.com.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My wife Melissa. She gave me the strength and vision to look inside of myself and remember who I was and what can be accomplished.
Because of her focus, and belief in who I am, the company has excelled in ways I never could have imagined.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering. It opens your eyes and makes you stop and re evaluate your surroundings, both physical and mental.
There’s a saying that “pain is weakness leaving the body”. While I am not a fan of suffering, I will say that the roughest times in my life have helped form who I am today.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
I know I will get some heat for saying this,
The security industry as a whole is a train wreck. The lack of training and low pay rates, compounded with the need to “fill body quota’s”, has been a real issue. Inexperienced security staff lead to incidents, liability issues and unreliable staffing,
Majority of my competition, fill spots with unlicensed, inexperienced people just to make sure positions are filled. The sad thing is the client knows this and allows it for the most part because of the low bid rates, but the will complain if something goes wrong.
I have been outspoken about this for years, and will continue to do so. needless to say i do not low end negotiate for services. You get what you pay for.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
Yes. 100%.
This has been my calling. I am 33 years into my security journey and there is no slowing down anytime soon!
