Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Septimius The Great of Los Angeles

We recently had the chance to connect with Septimius The Great and have shared our conversation below.

Septimius , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My first 90 mins of the day consist of planning and strategy and elevation things that I need to accomplish the day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My Brand – Septimius The Great was created out of the sadness of a relationship breakup mixed with the need to re-invent, create and maximize my passions which was fashion, music and other forms of entertainment. My brand is vastly different from others because I never know what I’m doing or how to do it which is the genius of it all along with not knowing which removes the rails of being constricted to the norm.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was a little black boy from Baltimore with no real guidance in life. Birth and some what raised by a single mother who suffered from heartache and alcoholism, I created a world of fantasy, curiosity and mystery. It was not until I began to explore and try different things in life that I started to know who I was and what I liked which is being creative thru entertainment.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I’ve been and still til this day have the feeling of giving up for the daily reminder of what I create and present, is not good enough or what people think it should be. But, I take that feedback and reshape it into something that is a better version of me and what it needs to be.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closet friends would say that I do what I do to be creative with the passion of presenting something new and different and that I would never do it for fame or fortune.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I had 10 years left, I wouldn’t stop anything but I would propel my efforts and existence to formulate my legacy.
