Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Shé Langley of Hampton Roads, VA

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Shé Langley. Check out our conversation below.

Shé, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I’m doing a little bit of both these days. I would say I’m generally a steadfast path walker…but the past years have taught me to allow space and time to wander, whether forced or chosen. You never know where a “road less traveled” may lead you.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Shé Langley and I am the founder of Rank Lift Digital. It is an SEO & Web Design agency that helps mission-driven businesses get found online. What makes the agency special is the approach to working with clients that emphasizes integrity, knowledge transfer, and championing. I believe there are a number of people, businesses, and organizations that have key services and products that can change the world, but if no one can find them they can’t be effective. That’s where Rank Lift comes in.

Additionally, I believe strong small businesses help the economy, families and communities for posterity. Rank Lift helps build sustainable businesses through digital marketing.

We are currently working to help businesses understand the impact of AI on their marketing strategies.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
This question makes me think of the many people who had an impact on my life growing up. Community has a way of shaping you into who you’re called to be. I think of the students on the college campus where my mom worked when I was in elementary school, the leaders at my church in middle school, the business teacher in high school, the tennis coach, the mentors in college. They all really saw my heart before I really knew its capacity for myself.

When did you last change your mind about something important?
For a very long time success was important to me. As I’ve gotten older and had more life experiences my definition of success is less resolute. It can change as often as minute by minute and that’s ok with me now.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
I’m a Christian and follower of Jesus’ teachings. I rely heavily scripture and lessons from the Bible to help guide me through life.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I think customers would miss our interactions. I enjoy getting to know the customers and have established some lovely relationships with many of them. You can learn a good deal about another person while working on projects that are meaningful to them over the years.
