Sheida Kermani shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Sheida, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What battle are you avoiding?
I tend to avoid ego battles. They drag you into reacting from wounds instead of wisdom. I prefer responses that come from calm intention, not pride. Ego fights waste energy and serve no one, and are quiet disempowering actually.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am an actor, comedy improviser, singer, writer, filmmaker, producer, and host of the podcast Bold Beginnings With Sheida. My work sits at the intersection of storytelling and transformation, I create films and conversations that explore resilience, humor, healing, and the courage it takes to start again.
My background is versatile, spanning medical imaging, comedy, opera, languages, and filmmaking, and that range allows me to approach storytelling with depth, humor, and a fresh perspective. I am currently building a growing slate of short films and a podcast series that spotlight people who have chosen their own path in life, often against the odds.
Everything I do is driven by one idea: there are no problems, only solutions, and every bold beginning has the power to change a life.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I believe bonds break when respect slips, communication becomes uneven, or when someone chooses ego, fear, or inconsistency over honesty. When integrity is compromised and people fail to take responsibility for their actions, the foundation of trust collapses, and that’s when connections start to fracture.
Bonds are restored through truth, humility, and steady behavior over time, not empty apologies. It takes both people choosing peace over pride, showing consistent integrity, and rebuilding trust through aligned actions. When someone meets you with honesty, respect, and real effort, the door to connection naturally opens again.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me what success never could: hhmm, let’s see, it showed me the stories my own wounded parts kept repeating and how much of my pain lived in my mind. I realized that if I didn’t understand or love those parts of myself, they would take the wheel and steer my life from fear instead of truth. Healing is a lifelong journey, learning about my inner world, studying different modalities, and becoming aware of the patterns that shaped my reactions. And once I finally recognized the real source of my suffering, I learned the power of surrender, trusting life, trusting the divine, and accepting that some things can only be healed by letting go rather than trying to control them. And as Rumi says: “Why stay in prison when the door is wide open?”
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Oh, this is my favorite question!!! The project I’m committed to, no matter how long it takes, is myself, my mindset, my growth, and the person I am becoming. Everything else in my life is just the cherry on the cake!! 🙂
Investing in my inner world is the one lifelong project I will never walk away from.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
I think what would remain is a naturally curious person, someone who is always trying to understand how life works, how people think, and what makes us grow and evolve into the people we are meant to become. Even without a name or possessions, I would still be learning, observing, and trying to make sense of the world around me.
