Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Shylynn Imbraguglio of Louisville

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Shylynn Imbraguglio. Check out our conversation below.

Shylynn, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Outside of work, I’m happiest spending time with my husband and our three cats, laughing at stand up comedy, taking long walks to reset, and diving into reading or journaling to unwind. Work keeps me creative, but home is where I recharge and feel most like me.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Shy! I’m a spray tan artist in Louisville, KY and I focus on natural, custom tans for any occasion. I moved here from Colorado in 2021 and built my business from scratch, which makes it something I really treasure.

I’m a little obsessed with undertones, skin prep, and the tiny details that a lot of people might overlook. I want every tan to look seamless, soft, and beautiful.

Right now I’m focused on growing and planting deeper roots in Louisville. I’m all about connecting with local creatives and businesses to build a community where we lift each other up!

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
The person who taught me the most about work is definitely my mom. She’s one of the hardest workers I know, and her work ethic is seriously unmatched. Watching her hustle and never back down taught me how to grind with heart and stay committed, no matter what. She showed me that showing up every day with determination is everything.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me patience and humility in a way success never could. It’s the tough moments that almost strip away the noise and show me what really matters in life!

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
A huge lie in the spray tan world is that darker always means better. Like, the deeper the bronze, the more impressive the tan. But honestly, going too dark can look fake or patchy, and it doesn’t flatter everyone.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I’d stop overworking and stressing about things that don’t truly matter. Time is way too precious.
