Silvia Loney shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Silvia, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
That vegan food is not good
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Silvia Loney, founder of Chef Sils Vegan Kitchen.
CSVK initially started as a delivery service during the pandemic, but quickly expanded to hosting pop-up events across the state and even into Massachusetts.
Additionally, CSVK has collaborated with established restaurants through their “kitchen take-overs” and partnered with renowned plant-based chefs in Connecticut.
Our mission is to veganize the dishes we all grew up with, without compromising on flavor or cultural authenticity. CSVK menu features bowls infused with vibrant Latin flavors, as well as innovative twists on traditional sushi rolls.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
That I had limitations. I strongly believe we manifest what we want and by applying a hard work ethic , we can achieve alot.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
All the time! As an entrepreneur, you were many hats and it is not easy. In particular being an entrepreneur in a niche industry is not easy at all. It’s very grueling, especially in the social media error that we are in now where everything is about TikTok and all of the trendy recipes. People want the trendy recipes. They don’t care about good food anymore. And if you’re a business that isn’t keeping up with the trends, unfortunately Most people won’t want to visit.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
I would say yes and no . I don’t think that a lot of us show our real personalities when we are dealing with the public. Mainly because we are business owners and sometimes are held to a higher standard. There are times where people are downright rude or leave nasty comments and you have to rise above it so you can’t reply how you would want to reply. The side of me that people see all the time is the side that is compassionate and caring towards others, and the side of me that loves collaborating with other local business owners and showing support to as many businesses as I can.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop caring what others think .
