We recently had the chance to connect with Tamara Steele and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tamara, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day set the tone for the rest of my day. It’s a time I cherish, a time to quiet the noise in my head and be still. I avoid taking early morning calls because that’s my sacred time—the only exception is if it is a real emergency. This time of stillness allows me to center myself, connect with my breathing, and appreciate the fact that the air I am breathing is a gift from God. In His presence, I am filled with gratitude for the breath of life and for the opportunity to fulfill the purpose He has for me in my life. I ask God to guide me through my day and allow me to be His hands, feet, ears, eyes, and mouthpiece. I say a prayer for my family and friends that God’s divine protection may surround them and that He may grant them wisdom, strength, and good health to face the challenges of their lives. Following my prayer time, I head to the gym to work out, focusing on building strength, endurance and flexibility.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
As the founder and CEO of Evolve and a member of the Global Women Collaborative Community (GWCC), my mission is to empower, unify, inspire and transform women in our communities. Over the years, I have supported countless women in realizing their full potential, guiding them to pursue their life’s calling and create a healthy lifestyle that aligns with their God-given purpose.
With a career spanning over 30 years, I have gained invaluable experience as a certified executive coach, life strategist, licensed minister, best-selling author, professional speaker, attorney, and former administrative law judge. What sets me apart is the unique blend of my professional expertise with my spiritual depth, enabling me to create truly transformative experiences.
I’m most fond of “Do You Retreat,” which I designed to help women lead purpose-driven lives and create a healthy and wellness lifestyle. In January of this year, I took a bold step and launched Tamara Steele Ministries, where I host an event entitled “Women at the Well.” This event was designed for women to take a deep dive into their souls, bringing about clarity, peace, and healing. I specifically reach out to the woman who is running on fumes; her cup is empty, and she is physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted from giving too much of herself. She desperately needs to replenish her cup so that it overflows.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
experienced a traumatic event at the age of four when I was accidentally set on fire, resulting in third-degree burns on my neck and chest. These burns damaged both the top and middle layers of my skin, as well as the nerve endings. The doctors expressed concerns that I might lose mobility in my neck and sensation in the affected areas. After a lengthy hospitalization, the real healing process began.
I felt extremely self-conscious about my appearance and struggled with low self-worth and self-esteem, believing that my looks defined me. My father once told me, “Until you start thinking and feeling good about yourself, no one else will.” This was my first introduction to the idea of shifting my mindset. His words resonated with me as I sought validation from others.
It wasn’t until I turned to God that I began to heal. Through prayer and by trusting in God’s word, I gained insight into my traumatic experience. I realized that my scars were not a punishment but a testament to my resilience. My pain ultimately helped to reveal my purpose, which is to assist other women in overcoming the challenges they face in life.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, I would tell myself that you are more than enough, regardless of what the world may say to you.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that my core values are important to me. They are familiar with my core values, which include loyalty, honesty, commitment, integrity, and accountability.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I find peace when I am alone, especially in nature or by water, where I can feel the presence of God. I see God’s creation in the nature around me.
