Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Tasha Scott

Tasha Scott shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Tasha, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity. If you stand on any business, it’s because of your integrity. Those of us that our children of God know that integrity comes with the territory.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a small town girl with big dreams. I’m a natural born creative and love helping people achieve goals. I started as a blogger in 2009, and created SheBloggin.com. For 15 years, it was dedicated to showcasing up and coming artists, and now it’s evolved into a lifestyle and business site. In 2021, I started Lotti Creatives, a creative agency providing various media, public relations, design and writing services.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
In 4th grade, I was playing during recess and this little white boy called me the n word. At first I felt helpless, but then I immediately thought to call my mom. A few minutes later, I hear heels click clacking down the hallway and I knew it was my mom without looking. She stormed in the principal’s office and let them know what that little boy said to me and demanded repercussions. Next thing I knew he was suspended.

I felt powerful at that time because I knew from there on that with my mom behind me, I could face any obstacle.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Many times! I battled depression for years so many days I felt worthless. Even with my business, at times I felt like it was pointless to move forward with it, but as the saying goes, “if you never felt like giving up, you’re not working hard enough.”

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Definitely. I’m a nice person, and I’ll speak to anyone. I mind my business and stay to myself. I’m an introvert, so you won’t get a whole lot from me, but what you do get is genuine.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What light inside you have you been dimming?
I believe I’ve been called to speak to people and offer encouragement and advice, or possibly even preach, but the introvert in me isn’t pursuing that. I believe through my testimony I could help people. I’m praying about it, so we’ll see.
