Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Tessa Lee-Thomas of Brooklyn

We recently had the chance to connect with Tessa Lee-Thomas and have shared our conversation below.

Tessa, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
Yes, I would hire me as a postpartum doula.

I work with professionalism, precision, and deep care. Families trust me to bring calm, structure, and expertise into their homes, and I take that responsibility seriously. My approach combines clinical skill with empathy and practical support. I understand both the science and emotions of postpartum life and tailor my care to meet each family’s needs.

I show up grounded, capable, and compassionate. I help parents recover, rest, and build confidence while making sure their babies are nurtured and thriving. I support the whole household through lactation, recovery, sleep, nutrition, and emotional wellness using evidence-based care.

My communication is clear and respectful. I set expectations early, follow through on commitments, and stay focused on solutions even when plans change. I hold myself to high standards of organization and reliability because consistency builds trust and helps families feel safe.

I am always hungry to learn more. Through my upcoming Lamaze education and ongoing professional development, I stay current and ready to give families the best possible care. If I were hiring a postpartum doula, I would choose someone dependable, knowledgeable, and calm. Someone who leads with compassion and backs it with skill. That is how I show up every time.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Tessa Lee-Thomas, founder of Warrior Womban Wellness, a postpartum care and wellness practice grounded in compassion, evidence-based care, and family-centered support. I am a full-spectrum doula, Certified Breastfeeding Specialist, and Lamaze educator candidate. My work focuses on helping families navigate the fourth trimester with calm, structure, and personalized guidance.

Warrior Womban Wellness was created from my belief that every family deserves informed, nurturing support as they adjust to life after birth. I blend clinical knowledge with hands-on experience to provide postpartum care, lactation support, and education that meet families where they are—without judgment or pressure.

What sets my work apart is the balance between professional training and authentic connection. I bring both medical insight and genuine warmth into every home. I’m also expanding my impact through Lamaze childbirth education and community-based programs designed to make postpartum care more accessible and inclusive.

At its heart, Warrior Womban Wellness is built on one guiding truth: it takes a village. I’m honored to be part of that village for every family I support.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that has most shaped how I see myself is the one I’ve built with myself. Learning to trust my instincts, honor my limits, and celebrate my growth has changed everything about how I move through life and my work.

I’ve learned to see myself with the same compassion and patience I offer to others. That mindset keeps me grounded, especially in birth and postpartum work where self-awareness and calm energy matter most. Strengthening my relationship with myself has taught me balance, confidence, and clarity and it’s the foundation for how I show up for every family I support.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, I’d say, you are doing a great job. You don’t have to have everything figured out to be on the right path. Every challenge you face is shaping you into bad ass person you’re becoming. Keep trusting yourself, you’re doing better than you think.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that what matters most to me is purpose and integrity. They know I care deeply about showing up for others with honesty, empathy, and consistency. Whether it’s in my work, my studies, or my relationships, I give my full attention and effort.

They’d also say I value growth, learning, evolving, and becoming a better version of myself every day. I don’t do anything halfway. When I commit, I do it with intention and heart. What matters to me is leaving people and spaces better than I found them.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when life feels grounded and intentional. Working out, reading, helping others, or simply being still at home brings me calm. I find peace in silence, in time with my dog, friends, and loved ones, and in those quiet moments that remind me to be present.

That same peace runs through my work as a doula and business owner. Transitioning from working for others to building my own practice has given me a sense of freedom and alignment I never had before. Even when entrepreneurship feels chaotic, the peace is always greater, because I’m doing work that’s mine. Work that reflects who I am, what I value, and how I want to serve.
