Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Tiffany Willett of Corydon, KY

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Tiffany Willett. Check out our conversation below.

Tiffany, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day in the world of Remi + Lola starts with waking up and checking the website for any new online orders. Then it’s time to wrangle my “co-workers” (the dogs!) and get them settled before I dive into creating. Early in the week, I usually focus on custom and wholesale orders so I can get goodies out to customers as quickly as possible. Once those are wrapped up, I shift to building inventory for my in-person shows. It’s definitely a balancing act, but I wouldn’t change a thing!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey there! I’m Tiffany – owner, dog lover, self-proclaimed fabric hoarder, and your go-to graphic designer for all things pup gear. Since 2017, I’ve been creating fun, durable, and affordable accessories inspired by my first two Cavaliers, Remi + Lola.
I’ve been married since 2004, have an amazing adult daughter, and when I’m not designing or sewing, you’ll probably find me snuggling pups, sipping coffee, or hunting for new fabrics I just have to have.
But let’s be real – this shop wouldn’t exist without my four-legged crew. All FIVE of them!

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Honestly? Everyone. I’ve always been my own worst critic, but thanks to my village, always giving encouragement and support, I am finally able to believe in myself and what I create.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Failure of course. Trying to build a business from the ground up and being more worried about what others would think if I failed than whether or not I could succeed. Thankfully, I am stubborn and will do anything I can to PROVE to others (and myself) that my vision isn’t crazy or insane. Hard work, always striving to improve, and finally seeing others fall in love with your product as much as you have while creating them will ALWAYS be worth the risk and fear.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes and no. I am a homebody, quite introverted to be honest. However, customers at my shows would tell you I am quite extroverted and a chatterbox. This is because I am out doing what i LOVE to do : show off my items and make connections with my friends and customers. I so look forward to my in person events though. I love my customers. I love the vibe of a market. My social battery is usually depleted by the end of the day, but the best part is when I am working during the week, it’s ready and charged by the next market.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
Born to do. I am pretty stubborn. I’ve never been one to conform to “what society expects.” I was a graphic designer for more than 15 years and loved every minute of it….until I didn’t. Burn out is real. Growing up, I always wanted to be a graphic designer, yet I was not a fan of college, so once our daughter was born, I sat down and taught myself what I needed to know to be successful, and for years, i was. One day, my father in law suggested i learn to make dog collars and bowties for our pups, because i just loved dressing them up. I had never learned to sew, and trust me, I had tried multiple times! This time was different. This time I had someone giving me the courage to keep going and not give up. Things were finally starting to take off when Covid hit. Talk about slamming on the breaks. I can count numerous times I thought I was going to have to give up sewing dog gear and get a “real job”. Thankfully, I kept at it and Remi + Lola has grown more in the last 2 years than I could have ever imagined.
