Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with trevaun walker of mesa, AZ

trevaun walker shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

trevaun, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
What’s more important to me is intelligence. Intelligence is the foundation to everything. Without it you would lack the simple process of analyzing to construct. With intelligence you can look at ways to get more energy by changing ways in your life. You can simply look at what is causing the lack of and learn to create more. With intelligence you can develop strong moral principles to have honest integrity.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, my name is Trevaun Walker. I am a photographer, videographer and digital artist. I go by the name 9th edition. The brand name is 9th edition productions because I do such a wide variety of things. Which adds full feeling energy to create. Since everything I do is always changing, it feels fresh. I started just 6 years ago. In that time, I developed and refined every skill I know. I am self-taught from watching videos on YouTube. Which itself was extremely time consuming and challenging. Now I have the capability to do things you see in magazines and on tv. I am self-taught so I am always learning new things or to do something better.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
That my ideas are stupid. As a kid you try so hard to be liked and accepted to the point you conform into someone else. Once I got that mentality out of my head and started expressing myself things got better. Now when I think of something or want to do something. I can care less about what people think.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There were a lot of times I felt like giving up. Being surrounded by people but not too many actually support you is eye opening. I watched many times what people would do for others but wouldn’t even come close to doing it for me. A lot of what keeps me going and still does is music
from my favorite rap artist. In my early days listening to Nipsey Hussle I heard one of my favorite statements ever: “victory to me is when you spend your time right, victory to me is when you get your mind right”. Another is A$AP Rocky. I adapted his message to my everyday life. A$AP is an acronym for “always strive and prosper”. Those two messages helped me get far and continue to grow.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My ambitions: they know what I have planned for my life is most important.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
yes, because as long as you are proud of what you do then at the end of the day that’s what really matters.
