We’re looking forward to introducing you to Whitney Miller. Check out our conversation below.
Whitney, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A typical day for me starts before the sun comes up. I’m up early meeting with and training clients virtually from all over, and I love helping people discover they are stronger than they realize. Once I wrap up those morning calls, I switch into homeschool mom mode and get my kids started on their schoolwork. During that time, I often step out for mid-morning or afternoon training calls with clients.
When the kids finish school in the afternoon, it’s my time to train for American Ninja Warrior. Most of my training happens at home or at local parks and playgrounds. I also serve as the Board President of Neighborhood Ninjas, a national nonprofit that uses the sport of Ninja Warrior to help underserved youth develop active lifestyles, confidence, connection, and resilience. Some afternoons I spend time working on projects or creating social media content for the organization.
After all that, I love ending my day with husband and kids. Whether it’s sharing dinner together or heading out to one of my kids’ sporting events, that’s the part of the day that fills me up the most.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Whitney Miller, a 3-time American Ninja Warrior competitor, wife, and homeschool mom of three. Alongside my family life, I run my own Virtual Personal Training business where I help people build strength, energy, and confidence no matter where they are located. I also serve as the Board President of Neighborhood Ninjas, a national 501c3 nonprofit that uses the sport of Ninja to empower underserved youth with confidence, resilience, and connection.
One of the projects I’m most proud of is helping bring the first Ninja-Fit Playground to Wilmington, Delaware. The playground was designed by top competitors from American Ninja Warrior and is built for teens and adults to explore movement in a fun and challenging way. My journey weaves together family, fitness, and community, and I’m passionate about creating spaces where people can discover that they’re stronger than they realize.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that really shaped how I see the world was when I realized that progress is just as important as the end goal, and maybe there isn’t really a finish line at all. When I got my first pull-up and then my second, something clicked. I started to believe that the sky was the limit. With every bit of new strength, I began to see opportunities all around me. A metal overhang wasn’t just part of a building anymore—it was something I could climb. Monkey bars weren’t too far apart—they were a chance to lache and fly between them. What once felt impossible started to feel possible, and that completely changed how I viewed challenges, both in fitness and in life.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that has held me back the most has been worrying about what others might think—fearing their opinions, standing out, and then failing in front of them. For a long time, self-doubt kept me from fully going after certain goals. Over time though, I realized that growth only happens when you’re willing to step outside of your comfort zone and risk not being perfect. Pushing through that fear has been one of the most powerful lessons in my journey, and it continues to remind me that failing isn’t the end—it’s part of the process.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
A belief I am committed to, no matter how long it takes, is working to increase equity and accessibility when it comes to living healthy, active lifestyles. The truth is, the traditional gym setting doesn’t work for everyone. There are so many barriers—commutes, time, childcare, finances—that can make it feel out of reach. That’s why I’m passionate about inspiring people to move creatively and showing them that fitness can happen anywhere: at home, at a Ninja-Fit Playground, in a park, or wherever life takes them.
I’m especially committed to empowering women, and moms in particular, to see that they are often so much stronger than they realize. No matter their age or stage of life, strength and confidence are within reach, and I love helping people discover that.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people will remember me as someone who believed in challenging and changing systems in the health and fitness industry that were built to exclude. My work has always been about tearing down the obstacles that keep people from accessing health and fitness opportunities—and sometimes even building literal obstacles, like the free-to-the-community Ninja-Fit Playground, to inspire people to move and play. More than anything, I want to be remembered as someone who lived out their faith in a way that brought people together, built community, and did good in the world.
