Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Yolanda Woodruff

Yolanda Woodruff shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Yolanda, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day consist of prayer, devotion, meditation, gospel music and a morning workout!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I was born and raised in Chattanooga, TN. I am the mother of 3 children and the Ya-Ya of 2 granddaughters. I enjoy spending time with loved ones, nature, traveling, trying different types of food, and sharing the Word of God with others. My heart and passion is for the youth and women. In 2020, God gave her a vision to start a business/ministry, Spiritual Works, which is now known as Simply Spiritual, Simply Spiritual is a Christian-based business that uplifts and encourages others to know who and whose they are in Christ. I want others to know that God is NOT complicated-He’s simple! I show this and the love of God through my products, encouraging words, speaking engagements, and my devotionals. I am just a willing vessel for God who continues to grow daily in the faith, love, and the grace of God.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with God shaped how I see myself.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You made it!!!
Through the hard times, the uncertainties, the betrayals, every tear, every struggle, every prayer, every moment you wondered if God heard you — He did.

The little girl you once were would be so proud of the strong woman of God you’ve become. Keep trusting, keep shining, and keep walking with grace. God’s hand has been on you the whole time and will continue to be…

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say my mom, my children, my granddaughters, and my relationship with God really matter to me.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
When I’m gone, the story I hope people tell about me is that I helped encourage and/or uplift them, or even just listened when they needed to talk. That I let my light shine and God got the glory!
