Lily Jousson of Geneva, Switzerland on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Lily Jousson and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Lily, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I like to begin my day with a focus on both personal well-being and creating a calm, organized environment.
A few simple stretches, a bit of light tidying, and a good cup of coffee help set a positive tome for the day ahead.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a freelance illustrator based in Geneva, Switzerland.
My work often explores themes rooted in nature, quiet storytelling, well-being, and things peacefully cozy.
While I primarily work digitally for its versatility, I hold a lasting fondness for traditional techniques like markers, gouache and pencils; tools that continue to shape my creative voice.
Since 2018, I’ve been creating illustrated stationery and gifts, either in my studio or in collaboration with European print-makers. Alongside my online shop, I’ve had the pleasure to collaborate with clients on a wide range of projects, including editorial and publishing work, album covers, web icons, murals and custom portraits commissions.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
My grandfather was the first one to recognize and nurture my artistic path.
As a child, we would invent drawing games together; little worlds on paper that felt like secret adventures.
As I grew older, when pursuing art didn’t seem like the most sensible path, he kept urging me to follow it anyway.
His belief in me made it feel not just possible, but valid, to pursue this calling.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of vulnerability, which is something many of us carry.
Yet, when we allow ourselves to embrace it, it can be profoundly freeing. It opens the door to genuine connections, nourishes the soul, and invites moments of beauty and joy that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely! I wouldn’t know how to be any different.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope to leave behind not just a single story, but a collection of little anecdotes that bring laughter and sense of peace to those who hear them.
